21  Re: OT Literary Thing and A Used Paperback Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by goldfishpollywog on: February 02, 2014 08:51:57 PM
I found a wonderful package in my mailbox late last night.  Inside was a new Nimbus broom to help me fly through the two adventures included in the package.

Trying to hurry and send my package so I can get to the books and broom awaiting me.  Grin

My mail was so full of amazing ornaments yesterday, that I had to put up a tree for them!

Close ups:

A wonderful Turquoise knit bird from hazelly.  The bluebird of happiness at the top of my tree!

Sweet faced little gingerbread man who has me dreaming of Christmas cookies made his way from bec99.

Love the colors of the owl kimchery made for me and his little snowflake.

Gala_apples & I agreed to a private swap for an extra ornament, so here are the ones she sent.  I love the look of them on the tree, the gear snowflakes are so steampunk and yet not obviously.

This vintage felt ornament from avesthel will keep me remembering Christmas at my grandparents house, back when I couldn't reach anywhere near the top of the tree.

The pattern on the Ceramic ornament Cinnamon Teal sent is so elegant!  I love the variety in the snowflakes.  Wonderful makers mark too!

The Folded Star is beautiful, I love the fabrics and only wish my photos showed it off better!

The whole tree:

Sending a few little treats with your visitor seems to be the norm in the LV swap.  Here is Joe with the goodies he brought for my Goose.  The houndstooth notepad was perfect.

We are also practicing trying to incorporate activities for the LV that suit their personality into our lives regularly.  Since Joe is in training to be a spy, he practiced surveillance with the butterflies we found in a garden.   Butterflies can be startled easily, but here is a picture he took while standing as still as possible.

Step one:  Find a little visitor....well, or make one....or two......hopefully no more.  I ended up making twins, so they didn't want to travel alone.

They are a product of Goose's color choices and a few sleepless nights of crocheting.  I believe they fit the size limits of the official swap.

Step two:  Names and biographies....two weeks of work and second guessing everything.

Thanks to the fact that our Craftsters in Training (kiddos) wanted to have Little Visitors but weren't sure about how to make it work, we decided a trial run was in order.

If anyone else would like to practice for a Little Visitor swap, here is the place for it!  We will be trying to keep in the same timeframe as a normal LV swap, and work on designing photo ops, crafting souvenirs, and creating a way to keep records for a photo book.  At the end of the time, we will make a journal or scrap book full of our LV's adventures.

This is a great way to add back story to your LV's, keep in the practice of  LV swapping, or just see how the idea suits you!  Feel free to join at any time, and let me know if you want me to add links to any tumblrs or what not!

PS.  If this is posted in the wrong forum, please let me know so I don't repeat my mistake!

Forgive me for taking so long, but here is the wonderful bell ornament I Sew Cute sent to me!

I really love how it looks, and how sturdy it is.  Great start to a wonderful set of ornaments!

D'Ood is home again and with such treats!

With him, he brought a number of biscuits/cookies, some wonderful Elvish lemonade, beautiful shells, an origami dragon, and many other fun trinkets.

The album is full of wonderful stories of D'Ood's Adventures that we can't get enough of.
D'Ood also brought a cuddly goldfish friend home from Belguim.  Goose has named the goldfish Mike, we get along swimmingly.  The sweet ladybird candle is a lovely reminder of the Little Visitor we entertained.  Such a great idea.

Thank you Nat for taking such care of our dear D'Ood!

Working on crafting, rethinking something.  Hopped over to the theme park for a special evening ride time.  Not so great for pics with our LVs, but fun all the same.

And so beautiful!

Not much happening over here.  Working on scrapbook and trying to drag Goose out of summer-mode and back into schoolwork.  Nervous about how the scrapbook will end up, but hopeful.

We did find a huge "flower" when we picked up HSpock from the airport.
