So I've been working on making cupcakes, and let me just say that cupcakeaccessories' tutorial on here is very helpful. These are a pair that I made for my mom for Mother's Day. The pictures didn't turn out very well... it's been rainy and the lighting here is pretty sucky. I wish you could see the icing swirls better..
This is a stuffed Snitch from Harry Potter that I made for my friend. She's getting married in about a month, so I designed it as a Christmas tree ornament so they could start their ornament collection (she'd amassed a huge collection already, but it was with a different guy... so they pretty much vedon't have any )
It was ridiculously easy. I just sat down and whipped it together. I think I could easily make another 20! But unless you're wanting a Quidditch tree, I think it might be pointless.
The perfect size to snatch in your hand!
Opinions and comments much desired! Thanks for looking!
So I've been looking through some swap galleries, and I've seen a lot of book plates. Are they mainly for labeling the inside of books with your name on them? And how exactly do you make them? Can I print them off my computer, or is there some sort of kit or sleeve I can buy at my local craft store. Is it really that simple? I'm just overwhelmed with questions at the moment. I tried searching to get a better idea, but I haven't really found anything. This has completely fascinated me, and I would love to try it. Sorry to be completely clueless, but any help would be appreciated!!
So my husband and I are opening up our own consignment store. I've started working with polyclay- charms and jewelry, and I was wanting some opinions about whether they're good enough to start selling yet, and how much they would be worth.
Here's some of them, I have a few more that I didn't get pix of before I left the house.
Fortune Cookie pendant
I was thinking about $6 (USD) for the earrings, and $5 for the pendants.... I don't know if this is high, or cheap. I do know it's about all I'd pay for earrings, but I'm about as cheap as they come , so....
Any thoughts about quality or price suggestions are greatly appreciated!
So this weekend I got the chance to sit down and really work w/ polyclay. I'm just a beginner, but I am so pleased with how my stuff turned out. I didn't get pictures of two of my favourite pairs of earrings, a toast/eggs combo, and some little mushrooms, but I did get some shots of these.... let me know what you think. Any advice/comments are appreciated! (The first two are probably my least favourites)
Poptart/toaster pastry earrings
Rainbow/Raincloud Combo earrings
Ninja Earrings (loove these)
And my all time favourite- the fortune cookie necklace.
Action Shot! (ignore the goofiness of my face. I suck at taking my own pictures)
These were actually intended as pin cushions (and they work pretty well for that, too), but I think that they would be equally as cute sitting on a desk, or in my case, a dresser.
This is Eli the Whale. He enjoys all sorts of mischief and likes to complain about his little sister, Marnie following him around everywhere. But secretly, he's rather fond of her.
Meet Marnie. Eli's little sister, she loves tracking her brother to see what he's up to. She can't help it, he just does so much cool stuff!!
Little Blue Bunny doesn't ask for much. He just wishes you'd quit sticking your sewing needles in him. Maybe then he wouldn't be so blue...
It's a hard knock life for a monster. All he wants to do is play, but everyone runs away when he tries to join in their kickball game. No wonder he's so surly!
It's Charlie the Alien! He just thought he'd drop by to see if you were up for a friendly probing!
All of these little guys are around 2-4 inches in width and height. They're made from felt and polyfill stuffing, and I've used embroidery floss to do a blanket stitch on them all except for Marnie. Any comments or opinions about them would be appreciated!
This is Seamus, and he likes to ride around on his giant safety pin. It's much easier than having to tread all that water himself! He pins onto book bags, and the occasional hoodie. The only thing that puts a damper on his day is the fact that he is all alone! Maybe someday soon he'll meet a nice lady squid to ride around with him....
My first successful attempt at making anything out of sculpey. Apparently, if you don't use the right glaze, things go terribly wrong
I'm not sure this is in the right place, but it seemed miscellaneous to me... if it's not, sorry!
So I have been wanting to make buttons/pins like this- http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10910553, but I have no idea how. Can I buy the buttons, and put pictures inside of them? Is there some way I can make them with stuff I might have laying around? I have no clue how these little guys work, I just know that I am desperate to make some of my own, for book bags and the like. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
I have a couple of items that I am at a loss what to do with.
The first one is this set of miniature carebear playing cards. It's a full deck. I'm not sure what their size is, but I put my cell phone next to them for a size reference.
I know I could decoupage them and make collages or possibly jewelry (I'd have to buy all the hardware though), but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas for something to do with them. It could be with one, some or all.
My other question is concerning this little juice jar. It is 10 oz. and previously held apple juice. It's really cute. The glass has "Martinelli's Gold Medal 100% Apple Juice- Drink Your Apple A Day" written on it, and little leaves around the top. My friend and I loved it so much that we both bought about four. We were originally going to have a local candle maker put Macintosh Apple scented candles in them (a beautiful scent and gorgeous red colour) but the opening was too small and the candle wouldn't burn. So now we have 8 of these jars and no idea what to do with them. Suggestions of ANY kind would be greatly appreciated!!
So last night my hubbie and I had to go into town to cancel our YMCA membership ("we'll use it"- haha) and I ran by the Dollar General for some packaging tape b/c I've been wanting to make a paper wallet lately. So last night I was practicing with the tape and made some bookmarks! "
and the second one is just a quick little sketch that I did.
The first one is a quote from Girl, Interrupted that says "Did the hospital specialize in poets and singers, or was it that poets and singers specialized in madness?"
and the second one is just a quick little sketch that I did.
