2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Help please. best i can describe is a 2-sided hippie fanny-pack/bumbag on: March 08, 2005 04:46:24 AM
ive seen tons of girls wearing these and even tried to make one meself, but where my butt kinda sticks out, i'm afraid it won't sit right on me.  i've looked online for them but i'm not quite sure what they're called.  they have pouches on both sides and look great on tiny skinny girls hehee heee.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / You see this picture.... help........mmmmmmmmmm yeah on: December 24, 2004 04:39:13 AM

I know the flap (giggle) edges look a bit rough, and it doesn't make the bag/purse look horrible, but it's getting to the point where most of my bags look rough and all that.

the flap bit was too weird to turn over and hem, so i changed to a big zig-zag stitch and went on the edges, but it didn't seem to help   Sad

any advice on how you get the edges to look so neat?

thanks

7  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / It's NOT so EASY. But it's "Simplicity" 5016 & 5032 on: November 14, 2004 03:33:58 AM
Morning ladies!

I have splurged out and bought some patterns.  Yeah, the phrase "It's so easy" made me think it will be cool and i will figure it out.

Anyway, if I can go through the steps on how the pattern says to make the top(s) and say which things I don't understand, maybe you could give me some help on how to understand it more clearly.  oh and i have looked for sewing/pattern understanding lessons where i live and online they just confuse me more. SO!

I'll start with Top A from 5016.

1. I know how to lay the pattern pieces out even though it might not be how it says in the directions. i pin them down to the fabric and cut around.  now those little triangle notches on the ends, there's alot of them so i don't bother cutting those even though i probably should.

2. Baste?

3. How do i get the little DOTS from the pattern onto the actual fabric?
EXAMPLE: "On OUTSIDE, pin loops to upper back, centering ends over small dots and having raw edges even. Baste"

That's pretty much it.. the thing is, I can look at the pattern and see what needs to go where.  All these so called 'directions' confuse me to death.  The illustrations aren't much of a help either.  Advice?

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Autumn Skirt. Same pattern as my "tent dress". Feedback please! on: October 28, 2004 06:44:39 AM
Same idea/"pattern" from http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=15092.0

Makes my hips look a bit bigger than they truly are especially since I have it over thick cords, but it is very very very warm.  Fleecy-type soft material.

The skirt up close.

Any suggestions on what would make it look better, what I should wear with it etc etc  Cool
