1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Halp! Bobbin thread isn't being sewn into the fabric at all! on: October 28, 2009 08:54:06 AM
So I thread my friend's sewing machine, an old Montgomery Ward Signature model.. I take a bit of scrap fabric and the needle starts sewing, but once I pull it out, all the stitches come out, and the bobbin thread hasn't even touched the other thread. Can somebody help me out?  Huh
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Easy homespun acne fixes! on: August 10, 2009 08:34:43 AM
I've recently experienced a resurgence of super scary acne that seemed to come from pre-prom night horror stories, and with minimal results from the standard over-the-counter remedies I looked up a bunch of home remedies for those awful zits! I managed to concoct a few things from my findings(and using myself as a guinea pig) and I hope you like them! BE WARNED! If you want to preserve these remedies, you'll need to refrigerate! I've made these recipes on a small scale, so you don't feel like you wasted too many materials on something you only do once.  Smiley

Tomato and vinegar toner

1 small tomato
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar(If you have sensitive skin, it's best to dilute this with a bit of water)
1/4 teaspoon honey

Chop up your tomato and drain off the juices into a small bowl. Add the vinegar and honey and stir until the honey dissolves completely. Dab on with a cotton ball and rinse with cold water. This should leave your skin feeling very smooth and clean.

Banana Oatmeal moisture mask

1/3 of a banana
1 Tablespoon of dry oatmeal

Mush up the banana and mix with the oatmeal in a cup or bowl. Leave on for about 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water. (Try to avoid getting it on your hair, because it's a pain to get off with just a rinse!)

Aspirin spot treatment

10 Aspirin
2 Tablespoons Aloe vera gel

Crush up the asprin into a fine powder using a blender, pill crusher, or even a spoon and some elbow grease. In a small bowl, gradually mix in the aloe vera until it's a nice, thick paste. Apply on problem areas or as a mask for about 5 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

I hope you folks enjoy my little experiments!   Grin
