1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Survey: How Much Do You Pay for Yarn? on: February 19, 2008 07:47:15 PM
Since my goal for senior year seems to be to incorporate knitting into every class I take, I’ve convinced my statistics teacher that surveying knitters for our class project is an excellent plan. The idea is to find out how much knitters from knitting websites usually spend on one skein/hank/ball of yarn and compare that to what the Craft Yarn Council of America says knitters in general usually spend. So, if you don’t mind, would you please fill it out? It should only take a couple minutes, and it’s all in the interest of education after all. Of course I’ll be posting the results when it’s done. Here’s the link and thanks so much!

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Too many birthdays in June! on: June 12, 2005 11:41:00 AM
It seems like everyone I know was born in June! I’ve been concentrating on all the easy presents first, but I’m really stumped when it comes to this one. Here's my question, what should I get for a friend who hasn't got a lot of interests, but who wants to be a crafter? She always says that she'd love to know how to do things like knit, crochet, bead, etc, and she’s always begging to be taught, but whenever I try to teach her she looses interest. I've gotten her crafty starter presents before, but, as I said, she always seems to loose interest. I don't know what to get for her!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Artsy friend's birthday on: May 04, 2005 11:05:23 AM
I have a good friend who's birthday's coming up really soon, problem is, I don't know what to make for her. She's really artsy, but she's more into computer graphics and photography than I am. I'm really not sure what to do about it. I'm good at crafts, but I can't sew very well and I don't have time to knit or crochet anything.

I was thinking of maybe making her a cool binder to keep her pictures in, is that a good idea? If so, I'm not sure how to decorate it....

Does anybody have any other ideas?
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Giant rod puppets on: October 21, 2004 01:39:48 PM
I really don't know what category to put this under, so it's just going to go here. Okay, well, some younger kids at my school are doing Peter Pan for the school play this year. We're not really equipped to fly kids, so, we're making really big life sized puppets instead. One problem, we have NO IDEA how! I suggested that we use paper mache, but I don't know what the structure should be made of. Chicken wire sounds good, but I just don't know how to make it jointed. Another problem is that they have to be really light so that 9th graders can move them around really easily. I was thinking that we could also try to make duct tape dummies into sections, but, once again I don't know how to get them jointed. Also, I'm not sure how to make the face, seeing as it has to look like the actors, I'm pretty sure it will have to be paper mache, but once again, not sure how to make this. I have to get this figured out by next Tuesday, so, any ideas would be much appreciated.
