2  Re: SLING frustration!! HELP in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by thecatspajamas18 on: June 20, 2006 10:56:57 PM

Thanks everyone. Ok, here's the finished product! I stuffed it with t shirts to simulate the baby filling up the sling. What do you think?

3  summer maternity top- Now with Tutorial! in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by thecatspajamas18 on: June 20, 2006 06:54:22 PM
My brother's gf is having a baby shower next month, so I called her up to ask if she had anything special she planned to wear and she said no, so I told her I would make her something.  She also mentioned needing something comfortable to wear to festivals when it's hot out, and she's late in the pregnancy. So this is what I came up with.  It ties behind the neck and the back.

4  Shroom Baby Shoes in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by thecatspajamas18 on: June 20, 2006 04:09:17 PM
I got these little white shoes at the dollar store and painted mushrooms on them. They're for my brother and his girlfriend, who are expecting a baby in August, and the two of them are kind of hippies. I think I may paint a onesie to match! Smiley

I'm not sure what you mean by seaming all the edges twice. Do you mean just folding over and sewing a little all along the edge so that it doesn't fray?

Anyway... I think a better way for people to see what I'm trying to ask is by drawing out what I THINK I'm supposed to be doing. Normally I just do trial and error to make things, but the fabric I have is nice batik, and I don't want to slice into it before I know exactly what I'm doing.  Any  help would be awesome Smiley

6  Green Plaid Sundress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by thecatspajamas18 on: June 20, 2006 01:50:16 AM
I wanted to make something special for when my boyfriend meets my parents and we have dinner together, so I made this dress tonight when I had some free time and extra fabric.  It's not 100% done, as I still have to hem it, but I ran out of thread. Smiley

I was thinking of adding a ribbon to it on the front, under /between the boobs-  what do you think?

P.S.  The fabric is extra from a surprise quilt I am making him! Smiley

7  i want my femtv! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by thecatspajamas18 on: February 15, 2006 09:35:10 PM
The Women's Center on campus is organizing an event called I want my FemTV (take-off of the mtv phrase). And so to advertise, we made t-shirts that we'll be selling. Unfortunately one of them was burnt by the iron, so I said I'd take it and decorate it into something special, and we could use it as the official t-shirt that goes up on the wall for each event. I painted it, cut off the sleeves and painted them and reattached them, ruffle-style, and I added a ribbon belt. So, here it is... from a regular white t-shirt...

8  Animal Rights gear! (img heavy) in Crafty Charitable/Social Causes by thecatspajamas18 on: September 05, 2005 12:00:54 AM
I co-run the Animal Rights club on campus, and I've made a bunch of tees and bags to give away at tablings. And some of the shirts are just for me to wear around so I can spread the message. Here's some of the latest stuff:

9  Early Valentine's Shirt Idea in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by thecatspajamas18 on: December 18, 2004 11:09:39 PM
Yes, it's a little early to be thinking about valentine's day gifts, but i'll post anyway... I'm going to buy a pack of those boys' undershirt (wifebeater) tops, some red satin fabric, and some white ribbon, and make these shirts for my friends to give to them on V-day. Cheap and cute

10  quilt for my dorm in Quilting: Completed Projects by thecatspajamas18 on: December 18, 2004 06:12:41 PM
here's a quilt i made when i was younger, and finally put a backing on last summer. I should have made the backing fabric softer, but it's still pretty.
