14  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / appplique quilt on: January 03, 2009 11:46:43 AM
I have done several quilts where I appliqued onto squares and then quilted by stitching in the ditch, but I want to do a quilt for my neice or nephew to be that has applique like a mural.  I want to make a noah's ark quilt.  I plan on using satin stitch to applique.  My question is, should I applique the pieces to the background and then quilt, or should I applique and use that as my quilting.  Is there a right way or a wrong way?  Any help or suggestions appreciated!
15  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Rotary Cutters and/or Pinking Shears on: January 02, 2009 05:12:43 PM
I have a pinking blade for my rotary cutter!  It's for my Olfa rotary cutter!  I can interchange a regular blade and my pinking one.
16  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / where can I find these items..*updated question* Weinerlock buckles on: September 15, 2008 04:02:11 PM
Hello,

I've been sewing some collars for my dogs and some of my friends dogs, and I want to find some good high quality hardware for them.  I would prefer not to buy online, but will if I have to.  Where can I find good quality buckles and d rings?  Can I buy these things at a hardware store?  I've been buying the ones I find at my local fabric store, but I question the quality, and the selection isn't that good.  Thanks for any help!

**new question**

More specifically...i'm now looking for wienerlock buckles.  Anywhere online or in person can I find these?
17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: My first skirt! Brown half circle skirt - *Update: Tutorial added* on: September 13, 2008 06:41:22 AM
i'm a bit confused about one thing, whenever I make a circle skirt, it's a circle...do you have to cut it to get the zipper in, or am I missing something?
18  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / A good zipper tutorial on: September 07, 2008 02:44:01 PM
So I'm been practicing and trying to master different techniques...last week(or maybe it was a couple of weeks ago..who knows anymore)  I mastered sewing buttons and buttonholes on my machine.  This week....it's zippers! Now i want to make sure I learn to do it properly.  I"m going to practice, but ultimately I want to sew a zipper in a skirt that has a liner.  Well I want to do a skirt with a bubble hem and tulle inside it to make it a bit more poofier!  so if anyone knows of a good tutorial that will help with a skirt like this let me know! Thanks!
