It is called a Time to Remember

Here is the info on it:

This intriguing documentary series uses footage from British Path newsreels to profile life through the decades, from Victorian times through 1945.

Info on it.
The classic TV series Time to Remember was a benchmark in documentary-making. Originally produced in the 1950s and 1960s, it touched on all aspects of life in the first half of the 20th century using British Paths unique blend of political, social, and cultural history. The series is narrated by celebrated actors, including Sir Michael Redgrave and Sir Ralph Richardson. Produced by the BAFTA-winning Peter Baylis.

It looks like they took old newsreels and pieced together a documentary.

I am watching an old show from BBC that discusses 20th century history and it is narrated by famous British actors. I keep hoping that I will hear his voice in one of the episodes. They had Elsa Lancheter narrate the episode on women suffragists.
