2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery Plus Fabric.. How To? on: February 02, 2009 09:38:21 AM
I'm new to this section of the site, but I'm preparing to purchase my first embroidery machine and I want to make sure that I purchase the necessary machine/software so that I may be able to do the things I've been dreaming in my head.  One of the main things I want to do is this:

It incorporates fabric with embroidery.  I am wondering how this is done... is there special software that is used?  I've seen this technique all over the internet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks and happy sewing!

Thanks for the advise!  I've decided to wait a little longer to save a bit more.  I also feel that I should research a little longer to make sure I purchase exactly what I need out of a machine.

Thanks for the support!  I actually read your posts after I posted this.  I tend to linger on this site too much once I start reading posts, so I posted first and then began reading.  The information that was given to you by some of the others was very helpful as well.  PLEASE let me know how you like yours - I would love to hear about it.  I feel very lost in this decision making process right now!!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / The "Which Embroidery Machine Should I Buy?" Thread on: January 28, 2009 07:47:38 AM
Hello all!

I'm looking for some advice about an embroidery machine.  I sew with my regular sewing machine a few times a week, but I'm looking into purchasing an embroidery machine to do monograms on bags, clothes, etc.  I don't know much about what types of specs I should look for.  I do know that I want it to connect to my computer/laptop in order to create designs - but that is the extent of what I know!  I have checked out a Singer that seems to be pretty good, but I don't know!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The singer I've seen is shown here.... http://www.singerco.com/products/

Thanks!

8  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: broke as heck, ramen recipes? on: October 24, 2008 07:48:47 AM
Oh my I lived on ramen all through college.  My favorite was a Tuna Noodle Surprise I made.

You cook the ramen (When living in a dorm, I used a microwave: if you put the ramen in a micro safe bowl, fill it half way full with water and cook for 1 min then stir and then cook for another min then stir and then let it sit for another min.  It makes the noodles perfect and only takes 3 mins!  *Just drain any excess water.)
Using a skillet, put a little butter in the pan and add your cooked ramen, half a can of tuna, two slices of american cheese, and a few spoonfuls of english peas.  Then season it with italian seasoning.
Stir it around on the skillet until the cheese melts and the tuna is warm.

ENJOY - it's very tasty!

If you're not a fan of tuna, canned chicken works well too!
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: It's All Greek to Me Swap Gallery on: October 04, 2008 12:17:22 PM
Sorry for taking so long to post!  Here are my FABULOUS items from hgolightly09:

All of the items together. MY FAVORITE is the fleece owl pillowcase - I am in LOVE with this owl fleece - where is it from?!

Two owls - one she recreated from my wist as a stuffie and the other is a tree ornament - which is such a great idea!

A felt frame in Chi Omega colors, two paper owl cards and this so neat framed art of a tree made from our letters - what a great idea!

Thank you so much hgolightly09!  You were a fabulous partner!!
10  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Owl themed swap, sign up 8/7 - 8/21 on: October 03, 2008 10:19:08 AM
I tried to notify the swap organizer several times throughout the crafting time and didn't receive a response either - just thought I'd let y'all know.  My partner and I both sent late but we tried to communicate with the organizer and with each other!
