1  Spider-Man in Halloween Costumes by pixelpup2001 on: November 07, 2012 08:15:24 PM
My 3 year old daughter loves Spider-Man and how could I say no.  I think it's a Simplicity pattern, a generic super heros, five to pick from. It was for a size 7 and I had to make some parts of it smaller. It's my first time sewing something this complicated. It took two months too long to make. But I'm glad I made it for her, she wore it all Halloween day.

2  Angler Fish in Halloween Costumes by pixelpup2001 on: November 08, 2011 08:17:01 PM
With only one week before Halloween my son made up his mind of what he wanted to be, an angler fish.
It's made of paper mache and fits like a helmet. The eyes and angler thingy light up.

Thanks for looking.

3  Touchy (taggy) Blanket in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by pixelpup2001 on: July 31, 2009 11:06:00 AM
This should have been a six hour project but it took two months. I have no idea how Mom's make anything, cause we have no spare time. Anyway, I call it a touchy blanket cause each square is a different type of fabric and all the "ribbons" are too. It was my first time ever making anything like this and I think I'll wait till I'm a Grandma before I ever make one again. But my little girl loves it and that's all that matters to me.

4  Nemo Shirt in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by pixelpup2001 on: July 31, 2009 10:56:54 AM
This is the first thing I've ever made for my son and may be the last. He's three yrs old and loves anything that lives in the ocean. So I made this shirt out of three other shirts. Nemo and Dory I cut out from a really inappropriate little girls shirt. So no loss there. Then found the dark blue one but the middle section was a faded out scooby doo so I replaced it with a piece of grey t-shirt.

The whole project took way to long and it looks better in the photo than in real life. The first thing he said to me when I gave it to him, was he only liked Nemo the movie not the shirt and we could put it in the donations bag. Could he twist the knife a little more. He likes it now though. Kids eh.

5  Problem window in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by pixelpup2001 on: February 21, 2009 03:15:01 PM
I have a design problem with the room and don't know what is the right way to fix it. I live in an 80 year old or more house. From the outside the windows look normal but in the inside their not. On one side of the room the window normal. It has space on both sides but the other side has a corner wall butt up beside it. On the other side of that corner wall is a small corridor closet. We can't take the closet out to give the window the space it needs.  We already have wooden curtain rods with holders and finials. I was thinking since the window goes into the other wall so should the curtain rod but if there is a right way please let me know. (just ignore the light, it's is just temporary. The walls are plaster and I hate plastering our walls.)

Any ideas, I've searched the web and haven't found an answer. Anyone.....?

6  Manta / sting ray in Halloween Costumes by pixelpup2001 on: November 01, 2008 04:38:48 PM
My 2 1/2 year old finally decided what he wanted to be after changing his mind three times and since Halloween was two days away, this is what was made. My son called it a manta ray but I think it looks like a string ray. I wasn't in the mood for sewing so my husband made this out of a foam mattress topper, house paint ( cause we're painting our bedroom) and a stapler. I suggested that what ever he made, it would need to be made quickly due to our son's lack of attention. In one night, my Husband made this.

It didn't last long, five houses later and my son wanted to go home and hand out the candy to the kids. My Husband said he felt bad cause he was forcing him to go trick or treating. lol. Good thing I didn't spend weeks of sewing! Wink

7  Re: Newbies Only Swap Round 9 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by pixelpup2001 on: June 10, 2008 06:01:37 AM
Hi guys,
Here's a close up pic of Karaoke's necklace.
I made the pirate bag out of two bags. One that was some sort of beach bag and the other a plain tote thing. The pirates are from a bandanna.
Karaoke: The headband was a tribute to Jack Sparow. I'm so glad you like your stuff. Oh, the pin was something I found on my way to the postoffice, I figured you should have something from the city that your stuff came from and the keychain was a just in case you come to Canada and needed some money. Silly I know.

OK everyone....Karaoke's package came about ten minutes ago, and since my son is sleeping.......On with the show.....

Look closely on the flap of the box and you'll see a button that came along for the ride. Little does it know that it will be added to my vast collection. And notice the wrapping paper....I was much too excited to wrap mine....Thank you Karaoke..
Next we have

Three little packages and we open them up.....

And a beautiful necklace of (glass, I think) flower beads and light green seed beads. I love the closure on it, I don't know what it's called. But I think it needs a new dress to go with it. ( I have a wedding to go to this summer and  this necklace is perfect.)
Next we have a lovely headband, modeled by my dog Archer...(he can't work the camera yet, he's all paws)

I'm thinking I could wear that to the wedding too.
Last but not least, the one that I'm going to fill right after this post....

A circler needle roll. I love the colours, blues and greens.
Karaoke you did a great job. I love them all and you made my day. I can't wait til you get yours.
I'm going out to enjoy the afternoon singin' "Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together. Brighter than a lucky penny,..."

9  Re: DIY engagement rings are not for the faint hearted. in Weddings and Bridal Showers by pixelpup2001 on: April 30, 2008 09:30:35 AM
When my hubby and I got married, we couldn't afford a store ring with a design on it and we didn't want a band. So I went looking for an artist and found one who worked with gold wire. After a bit of convincing her, she made us our rings. Mine has our birth stones and my hubby's is the same design without the stones.

Something very close to this. This is her work....http://www.theamulet.ca/index.html
Anyway it was a great idea. Everyone who notices my ring wants a closer look and hears the story... Good luck finding your rings....

10  Hat for a little girl in Knitting: Completed Projects by pixelpup2001 on: April 16, 2008 07:14:34 PM

I just mailed this hat my son is modeling to a little girl going through chemo. The pattern came from http://maggiesrags.com/freeflowerhat.htm. I used a finer yarn, so it took forever to knit. I added some extra rows for the ruffle at the bottom so it could cover her eyebrows, and made it the same way as the top ruffle but added four extra stitches to each ruffle so it would be really ruffly. The flowers are made from cords with buttons for middles and I put a cord through the bottom ruffle so she could adjust the tension around her head.
*I just love all the work everyone is doing. I find it so inspirational and just cool that there are people out there making some really neat stuff and not the stuff you find at the "country store". Thanks. Cheesy
