I've only been to one of the local piercing places to ask about stretching (but I didn't get a chance to look at the jewelry), but I guess I'll have to check some others out to look at the jewelry they've got.
I've seen some really nice stone jewelry at bodyartforms, but it was all too expensive for me, so I thought making my own might be better in the mean time.

Thanks! :]

Hey everybody!
Is it possible to make your own large gauge ear/body jewelery out of stone using a lapidary machine? I joined the local gem and mineral society club, and they have a lapidary room open to members, so I was wondering if anybody here has used this sort of thing to make larger gauge ear/body jewelery for themselves, and if it worked out all right. I have never used the lapidary, and I haven't gone to many of the meetings, but I'm going to start going again this month, so I'll be learning how to use it.
I would be trying to make plugs, spirals, or hooks for a 6G ear piercing, but I'm not sure what kinds of stone would be safe or easy to shape and be light enough to wear, but not too brittle...

Thanks in advance! :]
4  New York / New York: South / Any upcoming craft fairs in the Dutchess County area? on: March 23, 2008 04:05:02 PM
Hey everybody, I'm new here and I hope you guys could help me out. :]

I've been scouring the interwebs searching for upcoming craft fairs in (or near) the Dutchess County area, but all of the ones I found were either from years ago, or happen much later in the year. Does anybody know of any craft fairs or even flea markets coming up this spring or summer in Dutchess County or anywhere nearby?
If not, is there any website that would have an up-to-date list of craft fairs and flea markets in different counties in New York?
