Yay! I am reading this from my apartment downtown, a block from the lake. What a beautiful piece, it makes me ready for summer...
2  UNITED STATES / Minnesota / Re: Yarn shops in Bemidji area? on: January 17, 2009 09:08:14 PM
If you ever come back to Bemidji...
We actually have a place called the Woolen Mills located right downtown. They sell amazing yarn that is all wool and comes in A TON of colors, they even sell wool roving, and yarn spun from local sheep. It's located right downtown.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: World AIDS Day party, I need more ideas on: November 23, 2006 12:03:34 PM
Wow, thanks for your ideas. The party is in about a week. I ended up planning the entire thing and doing a lot of the work myself, but I think it will turn out.
I am borrowing from the past to give the event a revolution/dangerous youth sort of feel. Plus, I've  lined up some pretty great doorprizes. We are going to offer free HIV tests in a seperate room. Letsee, what else. Bascically it has a big empowerment sort of vibe because it is dripping with localness, DIY, and and strong visuals. ME= excited. This is the sort of event that will get people involved. Pics will come soon, of course.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / World AIDS Day party, I need more ideas on: October 14, 2006 10:16:21 AM
Hello all. So I am in charge of throwing the World AIDS Day party on campus for the GLBT group. I want it to be a departure from the standard "vigil" kind of party. I want to bring some life into this, not mope all night and make everyone bored with touchy-feely women reading bad poetry. I don't feel like we need to preach to people, we all just need to take a night to remember those who are gone and those who we are fighting for.

This is what I have so far: Safer sex/ safer play theme (maybe not)
Stuff about safe peircing and tatoos (we have a problem in the high schools). With a safe peircing demo by a local body artist. Raffle for gift certificates to body art parlour (for those over 18).
Free contraceptives.
Everything red! Encourage people to dress in red.
A drag show maybe.
Live DJ, dancing thingo
Refreshments

So I obviously need some help. Please post any and all ideas you might have. The party is set for December 1, 2006. I'll post pics after it for all of you. Thanks for your help.

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: X-mas gift for geeky boyfriend on: December 04, 2005 10:31:19 PM
Don't the geeky, role playing, slightly awkward ones made the best boyfriends. There is a fuzzy spot in my soul for all of those wonderous nerds. Smiley
Anyway, I think you sould include something with binary code. You can find a translator online for free and write him something seeping with love or innuendos (sp?). Any wry geekalicious hipster would like something in binary code.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: chopstick/dowel needles on: October 17, 2004 09:30:57 AM
a good way to smooth out snaggy ends is to take one of those 4 way nail buffers and just polish them off with it. works way better than sandpaper.
