1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / a way to organize travel brochures I've acquired? on: April 26, 2007 01:35:34 AM
I've recently traveled in Europe for several months, meaning I've acquired brochures, ticket stubs, journal entries etc. that I cannot bring myself to throw away. I don't really have the time or energy to make a giant scrapbook, so right now they're just hanging out in plastic bags. Has anyone else done something cool (folder? box?) with theirs? Thanks for any suggestions.
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Art Nouveau painted closet doors on: June 19, 2006 08:18:44 PM
I'm not sure if this goes in this section, but here goes. I live in a big house and we all have the same plain closets. So I traced images onto the doors of mine and painted them in (this is not my original artwork!!).  I can't paint, only trace inside the lines, but I like how they turned out. I was going for an Art Nouveau theme. Due to logistic difficulties, the doors are currently separated from the closet  Wink

Thanks for looking!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / What can I quilt? (other than a blanket or hanging) on: June 14, 2006 09:36:58 AM
Hi, I really want to learn how to quilt this summer. I made one practice block with an Ohio sawtooth star and it turned out well. I do not really have time to make a whole blanket; does anyone have any good ideas for what smaller things look good quilted?

Thanks!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / decoupage supplies? on: April 11, 2006 05:59:40 PM
Hey craftsters, please help! I would like to decoupage a table for a dining room in my house. The table will get HEAVY use ~ many meals, snacks, wiping down, water spillage, per day. It has some dents - what can I do to make the surface smoother before gluing stuff down? I was thinking of using gesso or primer (paint primer... what kind? so lost!). I figure I will use Elmer's white glue to glue the pages down. As a sealer I read about using polyurethane or lacquer - again I have no idea what would be better. If anyone has suggestions, please please do tell Smiley Thanks!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / shrinking acrilyc? on: February 05, 2006 09:50:28 PM
So I knit these cute, black fingerless gloves for a boy. The problem is they're too big! Is there any way to shrink them - should I just put them wet in the dryer or what? The thread is 100% acrilyc.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Boring blue sweatshirt + yellow felt on: January 13, 2006 08:53:36 AM
I have a blue zip-up sweatshirt with a small yellow logo of my college in the top left corner. I really want to spice it up (on the back, pockets, hood, on any part really) with some yellow designs, but i have no idea how/what. I was thinking with working with yellow felt (applique). Our mascot is a bear, and I kinda wanna stick with the college theme - meaning I want it prettier but not too tacky. Any suggestions? Also, I have to hand-sew the felt on... will I still be able to wash it on the regular/rough cycle in the machine?  Wink
7  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / New Year's costume (skirt with tulle; headband) on: January 12, 2006 01:03:25 PM
So I put together a costume for this New Year's. A pink/purple t-shirt inspired me to sew a skirt out of tulle and lace. I learned that a) designing an outfit around one object is fun, and b) tulle is easy to work with. Here it is:

Then I used some of the outfit's fabric/thread to decorate a journal entry:

Some of the pink fabric also went into a headband for future use. I cut little squares from old CD's and superglued them on. CD's are pretty easy to cut with regular scissors and the idea came from other craftster posts. I wear the band on top of 2 french braids, so stray hairs stay put.

Oooh, I just saw another post with tulle-skirt... I guess they're in fashion this season.  Wink
