So for Halloween I decided to create a human torso appetizer! The base, ribs, and organ "bowls" are made from puff pastry, as well as the intestines.

A rundown of what the organs are made of:
- the heart is a roasted beet
- the lungs are made of white bean dip and hummus
- the liver is filled with pate
- the colon is made out of salami
- the stomach is a cheeseball
- the gallbladder is a pickle
- the intestines are puff pastry filled with sloppy joe mix

I baked some puff pastry for the base, and covered it in smoked salmon for the "skin" - I attached the liver and lung bowls to the base with cream cheese and then filled them

It took a little while to assemble, but it was totally worth it! If you've got a large oven with lots of baking sheets you should be able to bake all the pieces at once, which will save so much time!

This week I made this and I'm so proud of it.

It's just plastic bags, cut into wide strips, braided, and then sewn into a basket. It took a lot of trial and error, but now I want to make tons of them. I'm thinking they'd make great covers for flower pots or a nice wastebasket... even a place to throw all the stuff in my pockets once I come home at night.

I am really excited about this one. I just love 9 patch quilts... they always turn out so lovely.

This one took less that a month to complete and the fabrics are a combination of my grandmother's and mine - she was an amazing quilter so I suppose I'm trying to keep it going!

I documented the entire quilting process to try to recruit people who might be intimidated it, so if you know anyone looking for a good tutorial, I hope you will deem mine worthy! It's posted at instructables - I would repost it here, but it's basically a novel. I think it'd take another week of work to get it up.

ok, so yesterday i decided i had to have one of these too. so i made one! i made a few small alterations, including furry fabric (the remainder of which has been turned into a rug to go under my coffee table). anyways...here it is! thanks so much for the pattern and inspiration!

It turned out insanely cute!

My first ever hat!

I made this so I can wear it to the movie. I am so excited. It's one of my most favorite books, right up there with Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day!

I went through a couple of prototypes and drew out a pretty good pattern, I think! The full how-to and the pattern are posted on instructables - the pattern is on step 2.

You guys should probably go sew up your own so we can be a sea of Wild Things.

These are created out of two cardboard boxes and a little bit of unbleached muslin.

I cut little triangles in the bottom for necklace hangers, and the middle frame part lifts up so that you can place studs into the frame as well. I have more studs that dangle earrings and I wanted to make sure they had a place as well. I never see these made for studs, so I had to wing it! ^_^

Yep. I love Nicolas Cage. I own all but a few of his movies, and I even made a necklace with his face in it.

This embroidery is going to be turned into a pillow.

I work a a used bookstore, and so I was able to save a lot of old books and wanted to reuse them. I've previously done a table with book legs (http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-table-legs-out-of-books/) and a bookshelf out of old encyclopedias (http://www.instructables.com/id/A-bookshelf-made-of-encyclopedias!-YAY!/).

I wanted something a little prettier this time.

It's made out of book covers, Elmer's Glue-All, a plywood backing, and some polyurethane to seal it. It was really simple as you just glue them down in layers!

My second dress! Hooray!

I wanted to do something fun for the movie, but I didn't want to do a standard movie costume. So I made this red and gold Gryffindor colored dress, and embroidered "Weasley" on the back with scarlet floss. (The Weasley family is the best. Plus, Ron is my favorite character and cute to boot!)

Turned out well, and finished it over an hour before the movie started!





I would like to think I was the most stylish muggle there - not counting the random guy in the bunny suit. He obviously wins everything.

P.S. If you haven't seen the movie yet, GO GO GO! It was amazing! I think I'll be going again. They cut a lot out as usual, but this time it still made sense - unlike the last two. Those were a bit choppy!
