This is amazing!
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: First time stippling/free motion (pic heavy!) on: June 25, 2010 08:43:45 AM
so cute!  I love this pattern, and I love the fabrics you chose for it.  I was super nervous the first time I did free motion, but once you wash it, all of your mistakes pretty much disappear, so it's become a favorite quilting method of mine too :)

Wow, 200,000 is a LOT!  I'm happy to be one of them!

KatyMai's charm bracelet kit finally made it across the ocean to my me yesterday!  I was starting to get a teensy bit worried since I'll be moving in about a week, but it made it with time to spare!

Here's all the awesome stuff she sent:

She included two awesome jewelry tools, a bead mat (so things don't roll away when I drop them - brilliant!), plus all the beads, findings, and charms I'll need to make my own bracelet (and bonus earrings)!

Here's a close-up of the awesome bracelet she made for me, too.  It's a little too big, but I warned her that I have tiny wrists, and she included all of the instructions to resize it in the booklet (along with tons of other useful information!  I haven't read it all yet because I'm supposed to be packing, but I'll be all over it this weekend).

Some of my favorite charms from the ones she sent.

and the awesome assortment of blue beads.

Thanks so much KatyMai!

These kits are all so great, and that bag is awesome, tar!

I think my kit got held up overseas by the volcano, but hopefully it makes its way to me soon!
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Hello Betty Stacked Coin Quilts on: April 26, 2010 10:35:10 AM
I started these two quilts a little while back using two charm packs of Moda's Hello Betty fabric, and I finally got around to finishing both of them.

This one is the Older Sister quilt, made using the girlier fabrics in the line.  It's backed with a yellow and white polka dot fabric, and the binding is just a generic pink cotton.

The second quilt is the Little Brother.  It's a good deal smaller than the first one because I ended up leaving out all of the fabrics in the red colorway (I just couldn't get them to look right in there).

Here's a close-up of some of the fabrics (and of my first-ish attempt at free-motion).

I haven't decided yet if I should give these quilts to charity or hang on to them until my friends start having kids (EVERYONE is getting married this year, so it's only a matter of time until babies enter the picture...) - keeping them seems so selfish, but it's so hard to let go!
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Very colorful Jared Takes a Wife Quilt on: April 26, 2010 08:29:08 AM
I love it!  It's a little crazy, but not in a displeasing way.  Plus, I think the make-a-jumbo-block idea is awesome!
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: using the scraps for charity. on: April 21, 2010 08:11:50 AM
agreed - it's impossible to really know how much a quilt should be worth until you make one yourself.  I thought people really over-valued quilts when trying to sell them, but now that I've made one (well, several), I realize that most people actually UNDER-value them!

I look forward to someday getting to do stuff like this, but I have always been wary of the fact that nobody wants to pay what a quilt is really worth - I think your idea of just using up scraps is pretty much genius.  The quilt is adorable!
9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: DIY Craft Kit Swap (SIGNUP CLOSED; MAIL BY 4/19/10) on: April 19, 2010 07:13:21 AM
I've got a busy day today, but I'll def. be mailing before the day is over.

I'm going to have to wait until the weekend to get the last couple supplies for nostephot's quilt kit (I'm currently living in a small college town without any decent craft shops... ugh!), but it'll be in the mail on Saturday for sure.
