1  Re: DIY Craft Kit Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Just Plain Goose on: May 11, 2010 08:29:07 AM
KatyMai's charm bracelet kit finally made it across the ocean to my me yesterday!  I was starting to get a teensy bit worried since I'll be moving in about a week, but it made it with time to spare!

Here's all the awesome stuff she sent:

She included two awesome jewelry tools, a bead mat (so things don't roll away when I drop them - brilliant!), plus all the beads, findings, and charms I'll need to make my own bracelet (and bonus earrings)!

Here's a close-up of the awesome bracelet she made for me, too.  It's a little too big, but I warned her that I have tiny wrists, and she included all of the instructions to resize it in the booklet (along with tons of other useful information!  I haven't read it all yet because I'm supposed to be packing, but I'll be all over it this weekend).

Some of my favorite charms from the ones she sent.

and the awesome assortment of blue beads.

Thanks so much KatyMai!

2  Hello Betty Stacked Coin Quilts in Quilting: Completed Projects by Just Plain Goose on: April 26, 2010 10:35:10 AM
I started these two quilts a little while back using two charm packs of Moda's Hello Betty fabric, and I finally got around to finishing both of them.

This one is the Older Sister quilt, made using the girlier fabrics in the line.  It's backed with a yellow and white polka dot fabric, and the binding is just a generic pink cotton.

The second quilt is the Little Brother.  It's a good deal smaller than the first one because I ended up leaving out all of the fabrics in the red colorway (I just couldn't get them to look right in there).

Here's a close-up of some of the fabrics (and of my first-ish attempt at free-motion).

I haven't decided yet if I should give these quilts to charity or hang on to them until my friends start having kids (EVERYONE is getting married this year, so it's only a matter of time until babies enter the picture...) - keeping them seems so selfish, but it's so hard to let go!

3  Re: Super Simple Apron Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Just Plain Goose on: December 22, 2009 11:42:14 PM
I'm so sorry it took me sooooo long to post.  Here is the adorable apron that blupaisan made for me.  I asked for something ruffley and feminine, and she delivered!

Also, here are the great extra goodies she sent me.  This shot shows: the handful of Jolly Ranchers (which made the package smell fruity and yummy), delicious chocolate hazelnut cookies (possibly my favorite flavors - these have been gone for awhile), super cute scrapbooking stickers, googly eyes, hair clip to match the apron AND she even tried to make one of the recipes from my wist (raspberry lemon bars).  However, she swore that these were a complete disaster and since shipping mutilated them even more, I haven't eaten it yet, but I think that trying to make them was such a good idea!

I've already worn the apron a whole bunch during all the boring house cleaning chores I've been doing to get ready for the holidays.  I think a cute apron helps chores suck less.  Thanks sooooo much!!!

Here are the items I received from DizzerSpinninRound.

First, a super cute dino pin - pretty much an exact copy off the one on my wist.

Also, this funky fun bracelet!

I love the bracelet, but I'm going to have to make it a bit smaller before I can wear it - I hope you don't mind Dizzer!  (Silly me for not mentioning that I have ridiculously small wrists before putting a bracelet on my wishlist... dumb!)

5  zig-zag baby quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Just Plain Goose on: November 09, 2009 07:16:17 AM
I finished this quilt a couple weeks ago, but just got around to taking pictures before I gave it away to Project Linus.  (I'm a little disappointed in the pictures, but it's obviously too late to take new ones.  Oh well.)  I was inspired by this quilt, but the images in that thread aren't loading now (bummer).

Finished dimensions were 36" by 48".

I received from sweetbettieleigh today, and I love all my stuff!

First, an awesome box full of adorably wrapped soaps with little dinos inside.  (It's raining here, so all the pics are a little depressing looking.)

Here they are all unwrapped.

Then some of these fun things.

Also, some dinos to decorate my fridge:

and the best for last:

Adorable dinosaur bride and groom shirts for my fiance and me!  It's funny, because we talked a little bit about doing a dinosaur cake topper, and seeing how great these guys turned out just makes me want to do it all the more!  Here's some close-ups.

The bride (with snap-off veil for easy washing)

and the groom (could he be any cuter?)

Thank you so much sweetbettieleigh!

I received from jessvict today.  It's a line from the poem Compliment by probably my favorite-ever poet Rives, with an extrememly accurate drawing to match.  I'm really impressed with how you seemed to really capture the "giggling with your lips closed" look.  Thanks!

Here are the magnets I received from morglanc.

The flower one came apart in the mail (sadface), but it should be easy to fix.  The old skool Nintendo controller is awesome, and I can't wait to show my fiance.  He's going to love it.  Thanks!

I received from Mrs.LindsayLoo today - they're soooo adorable!

I LOVE the birds, and the Flight of the Conchords one made me laugh because I almost made one very very similar for someone else.

Thanks!

I received from CuriousCoffee today, and I love it!

It's a reference to a pretty funny Flight of the Conchords song, if anybody was wondering.  I couldn't remember the whole song yesterday, so only a couple lines of it kept looping through my brain, all day long, lol.

She included a couple stickers too, but I didn't take pics of those.

Thanks again CuriousCoffee!
