1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / i skipped clubbing with the girls to make this... on: May 04, 2009 10:41:29 PM
yes. and i do believe that this time it was worth it.
because at the thrift store, i had a stroke.

i dont have any before photos unfortunately, but it used to be an ugly lamp with a cover picturing weird stuffed animals, and there was actually a teddy bear nailed to the base from its butt... yyyeah, weird. but i saw potential, and paid 5 bucks.

it was so worth it.

here is the new, swanky MARTINI LAMP!! hooray!
with the light off:

with the light on: (bt-dubz: i used a blue lightbulb for funky lighting and a sweet alcoholic effect)

Im still debating if i want to add some poker chips along the base, or some playing cards somewhere to distract from all the white going on. But thus far, i am very pleased with my mission complete.

feedback is greatly appreciated!! let me know what you think about the adding anything, or if you have some other ideas of what i could add!

thanks guys! Wink
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 7" records make a swanky purse! on: January 27, 2009 10:39:36 AM
hooray for my first crafty post!! i've been crafting on and off for the past year, but ive never had the chance to post what ive made, so here's what i made last night!! my friend is turning 21, and since we're both music junkies, and she doesnt drink (!), i thought a record purse would be ideal for her.

minus the glue gun and gluesticks i already had, this project cost me only about $3.50 to make!!

this is what the purse looks like on one side

this is the other side

the width of the purse

the inside of the purse, with a little pocket.

it took me a little over an hour and a half to make it, just because the glue gun i was using was enourmous and i kept burning my fingers  Sad but no worries, lol. this is the first purse i made like this, so the construction is a little poopy as you get a more up close look, but i am thoroughly proud of it and hope that my friend will enjoy it. Let me know what you guys think!!
