My friend bought a Chihuahua and the poor little thing was too little to go walking. She would run around like a mad thing then get tired and not be able to walk home.
I decided to make her an upper-class pooch, alongside the likes of Paris Hilton's Tinkerbell.
The bag was re-constructed out of an existing handbag. The internal lining is a waterproof baby matress liner (from the dollar store) and the mesh for the windows came out of a washing basket.
After gluing, hand-stitching every seam and reinforcing those same seams with backstitch, I have a bag fit for puppy royalty.
I found her name as the 'tattoo' style image on google, and used generic sakura branch clipart for the flowers. The flowers themselves are 5-petal sequins handstitched on with thread between each petal.
The cushion on the inside is made from toy batting, a towel and a plastic folder which was cut and glued before being stitched inside the towel. This way it can be machine washed should any little accidents occur.
Sakura loves her little bag, and her mum loves to put treats in the pockets on the outsides.
Bag overall took about a month to make - I got bored really quickly at the beginning and was a little lazy about it. After seeing it come together, it was exciting to finish and I enjoyed figuring out the detailing. I still need to complete the petals on one side of the bag, but it's not something that needs to be done immediately.
Next time: I'll put the details on first so that I'm not stitching through pleather, plastic and sequins.
