1  Mushrooms! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by cateus on: June 09, 2010 09:34:29 PM
I was in the park the other day when I stumbled across a patch of mushrooms and just had to take some piccies of them! They kinda stuck in my mind and last night I crochet a mushroom from some plastic bag yarn.

That was the first mushroom of many to follow!

2  bottle fish! (lots of pics) in Crochet: Completed Projects by cateus on: January 13, 2010 03:51:38 AM
For my final uni project, I crochet a collection of sea creatures including fish, jelly fish, a turtle and a seahorse. Each and every single one is constructed entirely from PET bottles. The string I cut by hand, just around and around bottles very finely to create a yarn I could crochet.
For the fish I cut the base off a bottle and then crochet fins. For the jelly fish, I took the bottoms that I had cut from the bottles used for the fish, crochet 2 curly tentacles, attatched them to the centre and then attached long single crochets around the edge. I had to get a little bit more creative when it came to the turtle and seahorse, but i think they turned out ok! I still want to experiment with different species!

you can see all the interesting shadows they cast on the wall, it makes it look like there is twice as many as they are.
this was only half my major work. the other half was coral pieces crochet from plastic bags, i might post them in a seperate post.
hope you enjoy, appreciate all feed back Smiley

4  dresses made from... gaffa tape, newspaper and plastic bags... in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by cateus on: April 08, 2008 10:25:29 PM
im a sucker for experimenting with interesting materials, or materials that wouldn't normally be thought of for particular uses...

i got bored one night and found a 40m roll of gaffa tape my bro had given me for various art projects. gaffa + bordom = an interesting night and an awesome dress!! i plan on makeing some gaffa knee high boots to go with it...

hopefully will get to wear this one out on the town this weekend!

and another day of boredom produced this dress out of newspaper. twas very light and cool but very inpracticle lol and didn't last very long at all, was more for fun than function Smiley

the plastic bag dress was actually made for a collaborative project with a dance group. the idea was based around recycling. we made the costumes and the dance group performed in them in the street.

im wearing it in this pic, but it looked way cooler on the modell who had plastic strips tied through her hair and lots of white makeup on

thanks for looking Smiley
