1  Re: Miniaturists/Shrine makers: How do you organize tiny things? in Discussion and Questions by xmissmayhemx on: July 22, 2012 10:52:55 PM
I have a couple of ways that I organize things. I has some pictures, let me show you them!

This is the wall opposite the door of my craft room. There are three bookshelves with an amalgam of crap. Please don't mind the dog bed on the floor......That the 18lb cat lays on too. My computer desk and printer/scanner are to the left of the bookshelf on the left.

This is the one on the left. On top I have the plastic divided containers. There are 11 with beads, 2 with charms/pendants, 1 with vintage buttons (mostly glass), and 1 with "miscellaneous crap". I also have two "books" with small containers for Swarovski, and two containers for seed beads. I use a Dymo electronic label maker to label EVERYTHING! On the second shelf is my plastic box with drawers. Again everything is labeled. This is mostly jewelry making things, with some random stuff in it.  Third and fourth shelves are office supplies.  Bottom is books and magazines, divided into magazine holders and labeled. I only keep crafting books and magazines in here.

This is the middle bookshelf. On top are ikea jars that I used chalkboard paint on. There are markers, some art supplies etc. There is a square jar that has ribbon it in. I wrapped the ribbon around clothes pins. Works well for short pieces. Second shelf is snap together tubs by snapware.  More ribbon, feathers, measuring cups, punches, moss, paint pens, colored pencils, dominoes, etc.  Then what I did is remove the last two shelves. I then stacked sterilite drawers on the left and then the 12x12 sterilite drawers on the right. Again, labeling is my friend! In the 12x12 drawer area, drawer 1 and 2 are tape. Drawers 2, 4 and 5 are rubber stamping supplies. Drawers 7,8 and 9 are paper and embellishments. This does NOT include the 8 drawer scrapbook tower that is stuffed full lol. OH! and on top of the 12x12 thing, are these awesome things I found at Michael's made by Tim Holtz. They are like printers trays but made of paperboard so you can embellish them, and have removable containers inside. I cut paper to fit and podged it into the different little sections and use them for flat and small things.

This is the bookshelf to the right. The top 4 shelves are fabric. I just fold and stack. The bottom is just random crap that finds a home in here.

This is my super awesome ikea desk. I love it because it has a glass top and it's easy to clean. To the left of it, next to the fabric bookshelf is a stacked set of white mdf drawer things I got at Michael's. These have poly clay, pasta machine, altoid tins, my glitter and glitter glue etc. My desk has regular glue and other crap in the left. In the right side cabinet is sewing supplies. To the right of the desk is the like 8 drawer scrapbook storage that is full. lol.  Oh and please excuse the mess on the desk, I was making miniature something!

This is in my closet. I found them at Walmart for $10. There were 4 cubes to a box, so I got two. I ended up epoxying the joints together cause it kept falling apart. This section is for yarn and tools. I may move the fabric in here too and the tools out to the bookshelf.

That's my area! It's usually pretty messy, so you got to see it on a good day! haha, my DH calls it "The Room of Death" because of all the halloween decorations/skulls/skeletons, which just makes me happy cause I love that stuff! Hope that gave you some ideas!

2  SMILE! in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by xmissmayhemx on: June 29, 2012 07:24:22 PM
So, I saw a post by Knickertwist about her beautiful little frames that she made and abandoned...I also started following the group on facebook...I love seeing everyone's beautiful stuff on there...Well, it's certainly inspired me to make more stuff...I am my own worst critic and don't think my stuff is GREAT, but I've not done collages in a while...I love doing them, but sometimes I get stuck...

Well, I love the images of women + wings, so I decided to go with that theme....I used a small 4x6 frame I had in my stash that was from the dollar store. I covered the frame in glitter tape, used an old dictionary page set at an angle for the background. I then (after a lengthy search) found a lady that I liked online... I found one of the cute little butterfly dimensional stickers I had in my stash and used foam tape to make the lady the same height as the butterfly...I originally stamped a crown over her head, but I hated it. So I found one that I had printed out earlier and added purple rhinestones and foam tape to raise it up...I used vintage rhinestones for the buttons of her dress..They're not flatback style, so they don't lie flat but I like the dimension.

I'm not a huge fan of the "Smile" part, but I'm leaving it because it isn't for me. It's for the art abandonment group...I'll drop it off somewhere tomorrow when I go out with my friends.

Please let me know what you think...I can take constructive criticism! Cheesy

3  Re: Lets See Pics of Tattoos You Designed! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by xmissmayhemx on: March 27, 2012 11:26:53 PM
These are all the ones I designed/collaborated on. Two of mine are flash (I was young!) and one other one is an old old drawing of mine, and no pix Sad

I just got this is in February! I drew the skull, and my tattoo artist cleaned it up a tad and added a few details like the shading, the yellow in the web, and I loved this font so much I had to have it! Latin for "Remember your Mortality" I get asked about this one a lot when I wear short sleeves to work. I'm a nurse (HAHA!) and have yet to have someone react weirdly to my tats! Most people (even old people) like them!

Nevermore. Yes, I'm a huge Poe fan...haha. I get asked about it all the time! One of two questions usually, "Does that say November?!" or "Nevermore? Are you a Poe fan?!" lol.

Lucky 13....Yes, 13 is my lucky number! However, this has a dual meaning..My dog Lucky passed away in 2009, and I wanted a way to memorialize him...He used to have a cool black "13" bandana that he loved, so this also represents him. Sorry about the blood! It was fresh! My husband has a matching one on his right calf.

^^These are all on my right arm. Eventually, it will be my "DEATH" sleeve. A reminder that life is so damned short, you should never waste it doing something you hate!

Stars! I got this from a really cool guy before he passed away, and I originally got them as a kind of luck symbol...But it's kind of become this reminder that you should never take your life for granted!

4  Baby Ripple Afghan in Crochet: Completed Projects by xmissmayhemx on: December 01, 2011 11:20:32 PM
I finally finished this project I started back in October (I'm notorious for not finishing things lol). I made this for a friend at work who is having a little boy.  I used this pattern: http://www.handcraftingwithlove.net/yarn/pat-ripple.html

I used Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Baby in Aqua, Angel White and Little Boy Blue. ~2 skeins of each blue, and 3-3 1/2 for the white. It's made with dc all the way through, so it was actually really fast to make once I actually worked on it! And I finished it with a hdc border along the straight sides.

Sorry the pics kind of suck, I was trying to get a good pic before all my animals decided to lay on it.

5  Re: Wee House Craftalong-Ongoing 2011 in Craftalongs by xmissmayhemx on: November 02, 2011 11:27:08 PM
So I did some things to my house finally! I finished the roof, made a "potions" table, and made a desk too..and two rugs!  less talky, more looky! Sorry the pics are kinda crappy, my camera died and all I had was my cell phone..

Front view...I love the bright green moss with the dark colors...somehow, it just works.,..

Instead of the crappy light they give you to put here, I put tacky glue down, used stickymax to put the tombstones down, then moss around them so it looks like they are overgrown.

I just thought the front window was too plain, so I cut out the crossbars with wire cutters (lol), and stuck this cute birdie in there!! He's massive compared to the scale of the house, but frankly, I don't give a damn!

Window box on the right side of the house...

The lower story bay window. The upper one (no pic) has a spider hiding in the moss, and there's one on the roof too Cheesy

The little area off one of the rooms. This is right above the aforementioned window box. It's my "potions" table. I used a table from the Creatology furniture kit, painted it black and used super glue to glue beads and bead caps together., I then used stickymax to make them stay. There's another "bottle" to the left of the large clear one.

Pic didn't turn out so hot, but eh. It's a rug for the "potions" room. I just cut a piece of fabric to size then frayed the ends by hand. Staying in place with the help of stickymax (love this stuff!!!)

And last, but not at all least, my desk!!! I love this thing! Used another table from the kit. Painted it brown then did black over the legs and wiped that away (best I could) to make it look old. Scrolls are just white paper with wood furniture marker coloring, "bottles" are again beads and bead caps, pencil is the end of a craft stick, and the books were made with tiny stacks of paper..I used thread to make the closure for the red book, aka the "Grimoire"!

Thanks for looking!!!

Here are some in progress pics of my house!! Inspired by Knickertwist's wee mystic's house, I'm doing a witches manor...One old witch and maybe two young witches? I dunno yet! lol

The roof...I hand painted all those tiles.

Here is the sparkly front door!!

Here's the front,w/o flash:

And w/ flash..the color is truer on the w/o flash pic..It's a lavender color..

Before I installed the floors:

A few tips...
If you hate painting..don't get this house.. LOL there is TONS of painting..I'm still not done and have been working on it for almost a week straight (besides when I was at work lol)....
Paint all your tabs..90% of them are showing.
Paint all the edges, trust me it looks better...
It's a bitch to get together. lol.

9  Naughty Resin. NSFW. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by xmissmayhemx on: August 18, 2008 10:07:58 AM
If you are offended by bad words, or the "C" word please-

If not, onward!!

So, I decided that because my other batch of resin came out like poo, I wanted to do something different.  So I stamped up some paper, wrapped it in packing tape, and set it in resin with that wonderful Martha Stewart glitter.  Here are the best ones!

Because I love that saying..I did have one that said "bukkit" but it didn't come out..   Sad

Just because I can.

Another re-hash of the first..

And of course, you can't leave this one out!!  lol

Thanks for looking!

10  Tequila/Dragon Box in Completed Projects by xmissmayhemx on: July 15, 2008 04:33:48 PM

This was this ugly tequila box that I had gotten a few years back...So it's been sitting around collecting dust. So I ripped out this ugly red velvet and had fun trying to get all the glue out, and sanded all surfaces.

Then I painted it all black, and put a Ciruelo print, "Hobswyllin, The Guardian" on the front, and put eleventy billion coats of polycrylic on the top..

After that, I wrapped cardboard in fabric, using that double sided tacky craft tape, and E-6000 to adhere the cardboard to the insides.  I did purple on the bottom of the box, blue "starry night" on the inside top, and black fabric on the sides of the bottom.

Anyways, I hope you guys like it as much as I do...I absolutely love that print!
