1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Awkward pieces into pillow? on: August 03, 2010 02:52:33 PM
I have a bunch of scraps left over from making a quilt, and i want to make some pillow cases out of them, but they are an awkward size, and i have no idea how to start making pillow cases out of them.

each scrap is 14x27 and i have 12 of them.

Can anyone help?
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Daisy Chain on: June 08, 2010 05:09:23 PM
This is my first completed quilt! I took quilting as one of my electives for my last semester of high school. I am so happy to have finished this quilt. =] It uses all Amy Butler fabrics [expensive!] and I'm going to use it as my [one of my] comforters next year when i head off to college in Duluth. Here it is!

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / A Bit of Whimsy Grad Party! on: May 04, 2010 07:18:35 PM
So for my grad party I would love to have it be a whimsical theme! I'm graduating high school! WOoo!

I'm not quite sure how to exactly pull it off, but I feel that this verse of Andrew Bird's song Tables and Chairs describes my idea perfectly. You kinda have to listen to it in context, so I encourage pulling it up on youtube. here are the lyrics:

know we're going to meet some day
in the crumbled financial institutions of this land
there will be tables and chairs
there'll be pony rides and dancing bears
there'll even be a band
cause listen, after the fall there will be no more countries
no currencies at all, we're gonna live on our wits
we're gonna throw away survival kits,
trade butterfly-knives for adderal
and that's not all
ooh-ooh, there will be snacks there will
there will be snacks, there will be snacks.

I've already asked my mom if we can get pony rides... she said no.. sad day. But I just want to capture the whimsicalness of this song. =] I want to have tea cups spoons and watering cans as decorations with the colors being light pink, orange, yellow and possibly blue. If you have any ideas for decorations/food/games etc. it would be much appreciated!

I Received from Craft Minded yesterday! It was very exciting!

Here's EVERYTHING

There was sooooo much stuff! my mom came home and got angry that the whole kitchen table was filled up. =]

These are the paper goodies I got, I'm very excited to start using it all!

These are some crocheted squares that she included, there are nine, I am still trying to decided what to do with them. they are so pretty!

these two skeins of yarn are my most favorite things in the whole package!

I was very excited to see the the hand spun(on the right) because my parents got me a spinning wheel for my birthday! and the orange was dyed with kool-aid! Its so bright and cheery!

and these were some of the other yarns she included, I'm excited to see the sock yarn because i've recently become obsessed with knitting socks!

annnd lastly, the wine bottles, I love using these to draw from! and I don't have these shapes yet! =]

Thank you so much Craft Minded! This was an awesome gift!
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Ashford Elizabeth help for a newbie on: February 27, 2010 10:42:06 AM
My parents got me an Ashford Elizabeth spinning wheel for my birthday, Its from an antique shop and was a little beat up, but my dad restored it to almost perfect condition.  but I'm having some trouble getting it to work right. I've been studying all week on how to spin, and as far as my knowledge I'm doing everything right. But there seems to be a problem with getting the spun yarn onto the bobbin. I just don't know if there is still something wrong with the wheel, or if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks for the help!
