A few weeks ago I started working with polymer clay. I made a few little things, but I was running out of ideas, so I told my friends if there was anything they might want I'd try to make it for them. My gorgeous friend Emily asked if I might make her a moon. This combined with my renewed love for the Hush Sound (particularly their song: You Are the Moon: http://www.metrolyrics.com/you-are-the-moon-lyrics-hush-sound.html) and some google searching inspired me to create this:


the original sketch had some hematite stars dangling off the bottom spiral, but it made the necklace too long, so I took them off.


the back has a mirror on it...to go with the song. Part of the reason I think this song is so lovely is because it talks about how the only thing we see are the imperfections (especially this line: The shattered surface, so imperfect, is all that you believe) and I think we forget that even though we notice all the lines on our faces, the freckles, the scars, to someone else that's what makes us perfect. The imperfections make us unique and special and beautiful. I wanted to include a small reminder for when either I or whoever is wearing one of these necklaces that we're beautiful. That to someone else we are the moon. So that's my speech on self-love for today, lol, take it or leave it.


two more in various colors, the one on the right reminds me of a teardrop. I read somewhere that sculpey 3 is not the strongest of polymer clay's (though I'm not sure if it's true or not) so the teardrop might break, but I wanted to experiment.


I like the duality of this. The light and dark of the moon. The surface and the depth. For me, it's very symbolic.


this one has already found a home (I forgot to mention that I made these today. ) and it's definitely going to be the hardest to give away. Luckily I made a cast of the original, so I guess I can always make a copy.

My fiance is a packrat, and one day, while going through his closet, I stumbled upon several pairs of pants that in no way could fit him. So of course I put them to the side where they sat patiently waiting for me to make something of them. Months later, I decide I want to make a corset...out of denim! The crafting gods smiled upon me. I literally spent maybe 10 dollars on this thing. It's my first attempt at a corset, and it's a little rough, but I didn't want to spend too much time on it only to decide that I hate wearing corsets. Anyway, here are some photos.


most of the materials...except for the lining and ribbon. so that's: three pairs of old jeans, a pattern, jumbo zip ties, and eyelets.

It was a really fun project that went together surprisingly fast. I'm super proud and the only thing I'll likely change is the top since you can see the lining. I'll probably put some ribbon or lace or something to cover that up. But overall, I'm just as happy as can be. I should also mention that I have very little experience sewing so if you're scared about making a corset (and it seems that a lot of people are) you really shouldn't be. Thanks for looking!

My first skirt that actually fits. lol. I based it off of MariskaLovesCrafts' circle skirt tute (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=115741.0), but I left out the lining and zipper.







The best part is that I've got enough fabric left over for a matching top.

I've been on a hat kick ever since I decided that my FMIL should have a gnome hat for Christmas. It's kind of a joke between us because she's little. These are all made out of fleece.

the first gnome hat - handsewn (because I left my machine at my parent's house XP)

the one for my FMIL (which clearly does not fit my head)

and my favorite, though it's slightly off at the top, but not bad for like 15 mins. work.
There are leaf buttons sewn onto two of the hats, and the silver leaf is actually a detachable pin I made also.

So a while back my boyfriend gave me a boring, oversized hoodie that he had for no apparent reason since he hated wearing them. I, however, love hoodies. But this one was just too plain. So I had to do a little editing, and this is what I came up with [new hood, new cuffs, and a patch]:

I tried to make the hood really big, but instead it came out really pointy. Which is okay since I don't like hoods much anyway.
