11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Flex frame clutch on: January 15, 2011 08:19:21 PM
Very nice! The fabric is cute.

Where did you find the flex frame closure? I've been wanting something like that but all I can find for purses is the odd set of handles.

It seems easier to find the flex frames online than in the shops.

Have not been sewing for a while so I'm really glad to be back here with a finished project.

Here's a small clutch I recently made.  I think the flex frame is a nice change from the usual zipper closure.  It was very easy to install too.  I think the size of this clutch is just right for those quick trips to the supermarket or the bank or when taking the kids to school.  Perfect for my keys, mobile phone, some cash and driver's license.

Don't you just adore that fabric?

The flex frame closure is surely to keep everything secure inside.

The bottom is darted rather than boxed.

Looks small but is actually very roomy inside.

Hope you like it!  Wink
13  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / CLASSIC Mini Messenger Bag on: September 11, 2010 05:05:18 PM
Found a very inexpensive black fabric that I thought would be perfect for a mini messenger bag.  At first, I thought it would turn out boring but when I was done, it actually turned out great!  I really love it!  Roll Eyes

The difference with this design and my original mini messenger bag (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=272387.msg3076550#msg3076550) is that I used an all-purpose zipper instead of an open-end one. The zipper is 10" long and the end is just covered with a fabric tab. I didn't have to make a new strap...the long strap here was saved from an old bag.

The great thing about using black (aside from the fact that it will match anything) is that all my sewing imperfections are not obvious!

Hope you like it!  Grin
14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A new wallet for me! on: August 29, 2010 04:56:29 PM
I've been using the long wallet I posted here about a year and a half ago (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=292617.msg3325538#msg3325538), and though it's still very much intact, it has become a bit dirty and I just can't be bothered washing it.  So the solution was to make a new one, of course!  Roll Eyes

I had some leftover fabric from the two fat quarters I used and found inspiration from Pink Penguin's patchwork zippered pouch. I didn't use her tutorial though because I am already used to making this pouch my own way.

Hope you like them!  Wink

How do you get the cardboard out of the center of the roll? Just pull?

Yes, you're right.  It comes off quite easily.

Thanks for the comments!

There are tissue box covers.  There are travel tissue holders.  Why not one for a toilet paper roll?

I used scraps of fabric for this project. It would have been a lot easier if I had just used a single piece of fabric instead of doing patchwork, but the end result is really pretty good, isn't it?

The top closes with a drawstring and the toilet paper is pulled through the hole.

The toilet paper is pulled from the center of the roll rather than from the outermost layer.  In order to do this, I had to remove the cardboard cylinder in the middle.

As always, the trickiest part was attaching the circle base.  The key here is using accurate measurements.  It's not really as hard as it seems.

Well, hope you all liked it!  Feedback is much appreciated!  Wink
17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Denim Laptop Bag on: February 23, 2010 04:09:07 PM
So happy with this laptop bag I made for my daughter, not only because I think I did a pretty decent job, but because I used materials I already had on hand, including some I had salvaged from old stuff!  You might find the colour combination a little odd but those are the school colours (navy blue, maroon and yellow gold) and I wanted the bag to look like it was an official school bag.  Smiley

Sorry, I had to blur out the school logo for privacy reasons.  I got that embroidered logo from a worn out school uniform.

Close-up of patchwork stitch.  Saved the strap from a bag  I had already thrown out a long time ago.  Just added a denim strip to make it blend better with the bag.

Used pre-quilted fabric for the lining

View of the inside

The bag is super thick since aside from the pre-quilted lining, I lined the denim with fusible fleece. Had doubts my sewing machine could handle the thickness but luckily, it did.  Hopefully, that will be enough padded protection for the laptop!

Thanks for looking.

Hey all, I managed to sew another digital camera cozy.  Just wanted to share some of the photos I took of it.

I love this Hello Kitty fabric!

Cute ribbon button sewn over strap end to conceal ugly raw edge!

Hope you like it!  Roll Eyes

that is soooo cute! I love it!
I keep seeing camera cases around and they're all ugly and boring. I am so inspired by your cute quilted case of glory!
Do you mind sharing and telling me what fabric you have used? They are too adorable for words.
xoxo

I used Japanese fabrics which I bought from this Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/modes4u.  Thanks for asking!
