Lovely bag. I like that you added embroidery and ribbon, it's so charming.

I didn't actually do the embroidery - it was part of the fabric.  Wink

This is a much improved version of the LeSportsac Kasey bag knockoff (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=436019.0) I posted here a few weeks ago. This time, I did not use laminated fabric anymore.

I also used bag zippers instead of the regular dress zipper.  Much better!

I tried to be as clean with the stitching as possible.

I was able to make a new strap too!

Hope you like it!  Wink

You did a really great job!   Thanks for the tutorial info.  Today, I'm finishing off a crossbody using a zippered front pouch video (free) from Craftsy, which I tweaked to suit what I wanted.  By the way, did you use a bag zipper?

I just used a regular dress zipper.  I've ordered some bag zippers (with the long pull) and I will do this again in a different type of fabric.

Wonderful job!  So nice to see that you paid attention to details like the zipper!  It makes it look a lot more professional and less "handmade" when you do!

Thanks for the tip on the iron - on  laminate...I have been curious about using it.  I think I will still to cottons or purchased laminates...

The bag does look really nice, though, and functional!

Bravo to you for taking on the challenge...you got great results!

I ordered some laminated cotton fabric online.  Do you think they work differently?

The Kasey bag from LeSportsac costs $42-$56 and it's only 7.75 x 9.5 inches in size.  I really like it but I don't think I can ever spend that money on such a small bag.  Next best thing?  I challenged myself into making a knock-off!

I loved how my bag turned out  Grin. The only thing I regret is using laminated fabric. (I laminated it myself with iron-on vinyl.) It got all wrinkly when I turned the bag over to its right side.  Undecided  Maybe next time I will just use cotton fabric or maybe I'll try ripstop nylon.

I just borrowed the strap from another bag as I didn't have the right sizes of bag fittings on hand.

There is a tutorial for a triple zip pouch (http://aquilterstable.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/triple-zip-pouch-tutorial.html) but I found it too confusing and it's not exactly the same as this bag.  I just did it my way and tried to stay true to how the Kasey bag is constructed.

I really fussed about the zip ends.  I wanted it to look perfect.  Roll Eyes

Hope you like it!
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Super cute USB Flash Drive Case on: September 23, 2014 11:14:41 PM
Saw one of these at an office supplies shop a long time ago.  I wanted to buy one as we always misplace our flash drives around the house.  After thinking about it, I decided to just make one.  So much cuter.

The case has plastic pockets for two flash drives and closes with velcro.  It also has a key ring so you can easily attach it to your bag or hang it somewhere or use as a keychain.

All I needed were fabric scraps and a few hours of my time!  Cheesy

For anyone interested in making one, a tutorial can be found here:

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New iPad case for 'not-so-new' Ipad2 on: June 12, 2012 05:27:56 AM
We've had our iPad2 since late last year but I managed to make a case only today.  Tongue  Installing a zipper is always daunting for me, hence, the delay.

The outer cover is denim lined with fusible fleece.  I printed out an Apple logo and used it as a template to make my applique.

The interior is quilting weight cotton lined with light fusible interfacing. I used a continuous zipper cut to length for this purpose.  As with my other recent projects posted here (cosmetic bag and travel wallet), I opted for bias binding to give the cover a nice finish.

Most handmade iPad cases I've seen around are simple sleeves or zippered pouches (like large cosmetic bags) so I hope this gives you inspiration to try out something different.  Elastic corners to hold the iPad and all around zippered closure for maximum security!  Wink

Thanks for looking!

So glad this thread got bumped, I love your travel wallet! Now the one I made for myself a few years ago simply won't do, yours has inspired me. Can I ask what interfacing you used to make it so stiff and thick?

I used Peltex 71F.  It is a single-sided fusible ultra firm stabilizer.  Really very stiff so it's great for this purpose.

Made another one.  Just look at that fabric...can't get any more appropriate than that!  Roll Eyes
