Details of swap:
Isn't everything better in black and white? This swap is dedicated to old movies and the Craftsters who love them. We will be celebrating all movies released before 1970, from silent films to the monster movies to Hitchcock, Hepburn and beyond...

Swap rules:
Crafters in this swap will be making a grand total of six points. That is:

1 point= SMALL=one small item OR two or less hours OR 10$ or less
2 points= MEDIUM= one medium sized item OR 2 or more hours OR 10-30$ dollars
3 points= LARGE= one large item OR 3 or more hours OR 30$ or more   

At least two or three points will be either a medium or a large.

All swappers will be required to check in either in this thread or via PM at least once  a week. Failure to do so will result in a "Poor Communication" comment being added to your feedback.

Swappers will also be expected to post pictures promptly in the Gallery thread once they have received their items. If you do not have access to a working camera, please let us know so your partner can take pictures before they ship.

The Hooray for Craftsterwood Swap Gallery!

Is there anyone else who might be interested in a craft swap themed around old movies? I'm thinking pre 1970, but would be open to a wider definition of "old" if people want it. I was thinking signups could start in December, and the send date could be February or March-ish. Basically, the crafting can happen after the holidays are over.

As far as size goes, not too huge- maybe 6-8 points?

I'm totally open to input from anyone who is interested, so please let me know if you are!

I have been wanting to try drawn thread work for forever. Every book I have says it should be done on evenweave, but I have not been able to find any evenweave that makes me happy quality wise. I also have some examples of drawn thread work done by now deceased relatives that appear to be on plainweave fabric. 

Does any one have links for stores that sell higher count evenweave? Preferably stuff that does not cost a fortune, if it exists.

Also, does anyone have experience doing drawn thread work on plainweave? Does it work? (I'm thinking pretty simple, btw.)

I would really love to do something like napkins or a table runner, just to give you an idea what I am looking for.

I made these towels for 85%confusion in the Tea Towel swap. I'm actually quite proud of how they came out. (After I got over a debilitating case of swap anxiety, that is!)

And no, I don't mean the kind created by not storing your embroidery floss properly. I have plenty of those.   

I was browsing http://heatherbailey.typepad.com and I found this http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/photos/my_favorite_knot/index.html. I got my embroidery floss, tried it, and was able to do it on the first try. Fast forward to two days later, where I am still getting a kick out of doing this knot and putting knots in thread that I don't really even need to knot. I am a dork.

I thought I must share this knot with all of ya'll. You might appreciate it more than my hubby does.

So, I was also wondering, do any of you have any fabulous knots you can't live without? I want to learn more nifty knots!

I made this knitting needle roll in the May Flowers swap for the lovely yellowblanket. I don't knit and so I just kinda had to wing it, but it seems like she liked it and has been able to use it.

The top is dusted with cocoa powder. It was supposed to be polka dotted but I was doing it in a hurry and so it was basically a mess.

So, I've been in love with ladylemmon's Think Pink Cherry Blossom tote ever since I saw it. I just made my sister a tote for her birthday that is based on that tutorial.  I also created and embroidered my own design for the outside of the pocket.

Sorry, the photo quality isn't what I would have liked. It was my mom's camera, and I didn't really know how to use it.
