131  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Serenity/Firefly's Jayne Hat! on: August 27, 2009 07:52:25 PM
Thanks guys!
I can't wait for it to get cool here so I can wear it on campus and see if anyone says anything Smiley
I've managed to get a couple comments when wearing my Serenity shirt so I have hope!

Thanks!

Eventually, when I pick my needles up again, I'm thinking that I'm going to make another one in wool and try to match the colors as well as I can </nerd>
133  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Serenity/Firefly's Jayne Hat! on: August 26, 2009 12:34:04 PM
I've been lurking around the crochet boards for awhile now so I find it ironic that my first actual post to crafster is in the knitting boards... (hopefully I haven't messed anything up)

That being said, I learned how to knit this past winter.  I'm a diehard Firefly/Serenity fan and for anyone familiar with the tv series I'm sure you can guess what one of the first things I wanted to knit was....Jayne's hat!  I found it on ravelry but, ironically enough, the pattern was posted in this very forum many years earlier.

Enough gabbing...on to pictures!

It was very easy to make.  I actually made two, one for a friend and one for myself, and cranked each one out in about a day.

Of course I had to try and give my best Jayne face when modeling it.  I think it's kinda fail but whatever   Roll Eyes

There's a couple more pictures on my blog.  I figured since this was mostly just stockinette stitch I wasn't going to make you look at more pictures than you need to to get the idea haha

Pattern can be found here:

(if you happen to see this post Emisanboo, thank you for the lovely pattern!)

I totally agree with the post above me but have to add that your eyes are absolutely amazing!  Shocked

That aside, I really need to make myself a neckwarmer like I've been wanting to for awhile now...

I really like the first one.

If you made a pattern for it, you'd be my hero  Grin

139  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: HELP! I want to give this Illini purse as a gift. Is it good enough? on: August 25, 2009 07:29:33 PM
I think the purse is lovely.

If I were an Illini fan I would enjoy it  Cheesy

I literally just made it today so there's not much, but you can see the awesome 8-bit Yoshi blanket I'm working on!  Plus I've got things I've already made that are going on there soon.

It'll probably be mostly crochet with some knitting and other random crafty things  Smiley
