11  *CLOVER CORSET* made from clover flowers LITERALLY!!!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lucifers angel on: May 25, 2008 06:06:12 AM

Heres my latest creation, a corset out of clovers. And yes its made out of INDIVIDUAL CLOVER FLOWERS!:)
Ive no idea why or how i got the idea to do this, but i found myself out in my garden yesterday, picking flowers like a lunatic!!
When i had a huge heap, i started plaiting them into a braid..

yeah there was a LOT of braid!

and heres the back

and a closeup of the plaiting of the corset itself!

what do you all think?i was going to make a matching skirt/or make it into a dress, but then my dad cut the lawn, destroying all the clover flowers...awwwwww Sad

oh and also the corset kinda wilted and died, but the memories and photographs remain!:P

12  JEANDRESS number one!! **NOW WITH ADDED TUTE!!******* in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lucifers angel on: May 25, 2008 05:51:20 AM
I recently got a HUGE bag of random clothes, including like 5 pairs of jeans, so i thought I'd make something from them! so heres what i call 'Jean-Dress Number One'' Smiley

It started out life as a large stretch pair of jeans, and took all of a few hours to recon!I was just messing and randomly decided to cut the legs in half, and sewed them together to make a sort of imitation corset, then added the skirt!and the best thing is that it doesnt need a zip as the fabrics stretch!yay!

Without the belt>> cant decided whether to wear it with the belt or without it?

the back of the skirt turned out to be a little wonky but im hoping no-one will be looking there too much to notice!loL!:P

and finally a side view!

Smiley

ps. is anyone interested in taking part in my Jean-A-Long??

**********EDIT*****TUTE!!!!*******
okay its finally here!!!ive actually gotten around to posting a tute. Its my first one so sorry if i explain too much or too little, and im really hoping the following actually makes sense lol!

 *************  NB    ********
MAKE SURE THAT THE JEANS YOU'RE USING ARE AT LEAST A FEW SIZES TOO BIG!!if not then you will have to leave the zip in the skirt of the jean-dress.

okay firstly you start with an ordinary pair of jeans and cut off the legs as shown below:

(btw i drew a green line beside the inside seam, and a red line along the outside one, hope that helps!god knows, i got confused enough times when making the dress!or maybe thats just me!lol!)

Next you turn the jean legs so that the outside seam faces you. this will be the front of the jean-dress. i liked the outside seam far better than the inside one, it was folded nicely.

(again, the red line marks the outside seam)

Now you cut along the thick black line.

Open up the jean legs, and sew together (for some reason, in this pic i turned the jean legs the other way around...it shows the back of the material)

Now turn it around the right way up, and put two darts into the front (marked by black lines) to make a sweetheart neckline.

Then hem the top. The back of the 'corset' doesnt need a zipper if you're using stretch material, so just sew it together at the back to make a tube.

And on to the skirt part...cut out the zip and sew the two parts together.

make adjustments to the back (marked by safety pins)

Now hem the bottom. I didnt like the waistband of the jeans, so I unpicked the stitching and took it off, then just sewed the corset top to the skirt. Finally i sewed on the little hoops for the belt.

thanks for looking, and plz do tell me if you think of a way to make this tute better.
thanks!:)

ps. also post the creations inspired by this here!i really wana see what everyone comes up with!!:)

16  DUBIOUS OIL PAINTINGS! yay!:) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by lucifers angel on: May 13, 2008 05:04:28 PM
Here are a few pieces I painted..

An A4 quickie painting done in oil paints...i think..er...which took all of an hour and a bit to complete.

This one took a lot longer to finish, and also was a bit bigger. And as you can see, yes i really like painting trees!:)

I painted this for my parents for christmas. Had to hide it in my room for a few days til the big holiday, and forbid them from wandering in there lol! But when they finally did get to see it, I think they were quite pleasantly surprised it wasnt a painting of trees again!
(Oh and by the way, you can see my beloved goth-doll in the corner of that pic woo Smiley she still manages to scare the bejezus out of my mum!!)

please tell me what you think.

and also my mum wants me to paint a painting similar to the last one (the still life of the bottles and cloth), to hang beside it. Ideas anyone?

17  TAILCOAT!!!...i think..or is it a waistcoat??? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lucifers angel on: May 12, 2008 03:35:38 PM
hi! This is something I finished a few days ago, and to be quite honest, im not too sure what to call it! Er...waiscoat....tailcoat.....anyone??

I put it on over a plain black shirt cos it seems just a bit too indecent to wear on its own!!!

(oh and do excuse the bathtub in the background!)Tongue

It started out life as a mens XL sleeveless shirt, which i took a scissors to out of pure boredom, and decided that i actually quite liked so i resewed the collar and sewed the sides into panels...also did black stitching on the hems and seams.

and the back:

i decided to put in a random split in the back. Im wondering what i should do with the back? Should i leave it as it is, or would corset-style black lacing be nice?Or maybe the buckle-thing that you'd usually find on the back of a waistcoat?

ps. i promise to put up better quality pics soon!:)

18  MY CORSETED DEBS DRESS! ***edit**** new pics in action and of the back in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lucifers angel on: May 08, 2008 10:45:26 AM
finally..

I'm the one on the left in the red corset..

All the credit for the work goes to a brilliant dressmaker, Patricia Weston, who made the dress on my designs!:) and barely even complained when I kept changing it!lol!

heres the original design I gave her..

The corset would be seperate from the skirt, and yes thats how big the back ACTUALLY turned out, I loved it!(unfortunately I never thought of getting a photo of the back for some reason Sad) But we decided to change the shape of the skirt to a simple A-line and to take out the split...

me and my date..hehe ...

************************EDIT!***************************
the corset was attatched to the skirt by means of a little hook on each side, and a loop on each side of the skirt..so heres a pic of the corset later worn with jeans!:)

and the back:

thanks for looking!
PS> if the pics wont work for you, there are links on the first/second page!:)

Heres a little green dress i made from a short top and some black material i found at the back of my sewing kit.

close-up:

because of the tiny amount of green material, the dress tuned out to have a mad diagonal seam at the back!:0 im not quite sure if i like it or not but it will do lol!
