2  embroidered tee that had holes! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by snowbird on: May 10, 2008 11:17:15 AM
I love really simplistic tshirts, those really basic ones... cause they go with everything! This one I had worn so much though, that it got a little hole at the bottom. I'm sure no one else could tell, but I knew it was there... and you know, something had to be done! So I did handstitched a buttonhole stitch around the hole and a little flower and then decided to make a few more holes and stitched around those!

So what do you think? Should I add a couple more holes? Or something else? I feel like it needs a little something... maybe a couple black dots with fabric paint...?

3  watercolour landscape on envelope in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by snowbird on: April 20, 2008 05:20:36 PM
I love making envelopes and I've never thought to post them here! I don't know if they belong here or in paper crafts. What do you think? Are they art? I've always thought so. What is art anyway??

Here's one I did a long time ago (and mailed away to a friend):

4  macro photography challenge: gerbera daisy in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by snowbird on: April 20, 2008 05:05:47 PM
Here's my entry for the macro photo contest.
The criteria were to find something that inspires you right? Well this inspires me two-fold: first it was a flower from my encouraging and compassionate beloved, and secondly it is beautiful... and beauty is achingly inspiring. I need to be surrounded by beauty!

5  painted tree on 3/4 sleeve top in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by snowbird on: April 17, 2008 02:43:20 PM
Hi all! This is my first post!
I've been kind of tentative of posting at all because I've been so impressed with so many people's work!
now that my courage is screwed up I'd like to share a little project I just made, really quick and easy.

My preliminary sketches actually didn't look like this, the tee ended up looking more "blossomy", if you know what I mean. But I like it a lot. Please tell me what you think!!

I used a fabric pen I found at some tiny hole-in-the-wall craft store, it's called Elmer's Painters (like the Elmer's glue), and it is "medium" thickness (and permanent).
I haven't tried washing it yet, but I did iron over top (just in case) after it dried over night with a piece of paper in between the shirt and the iron.

I wouldn't recommend using Elmer's Painters, the pen was sort of hard to use on the surface. This is why I resorted to the dotty blossoms. I have never tried fabric pens before though, so perhaps this is what they're all like?
