1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Real Flowers vs Fake Flowers on: April 28, 2008 11:31:47 AM
We ordered bulk roses from sam's club. I was a little wary but they were wonderful roses. We had to buy greenery and babies breath but it turned out to be the best route for us. The best part of the three stressful days before my wedding was coming home to the smell of 200 roses in my kitchen. We had so many flowers for centerpieces, for the church, etc. If you do bulk on your own, I would suggest Sam's club. Out of two hundred roses we had to throw out maybe 3 or 4.

Thanks!  We do have those out here, so I'll keep that in mind too.

As much as I would love to have real flowers, price aside, I would be horrified that something would go wrong with them and I wouldn't know until the last minute. You know?

I haven't picked our song yet... I have it narrowed!

Blue Eyes - Cary Brothers
All The Way - Frank Sinatra
At last - Etta James

I think they're all gorgeous, personally.  Most of the songs that have real sentimental meaning to us, are rockabilly or punk songs, which would not work AS well for the pseudo traditional concepts that I'm going for.  They'll definitely get played though.

Reading everyones choices has been so interesting, too  Shocked

Aqua and Brown seems to be such a great combination that is finally getting the attention it deserves!  Brown with aqua accents sounds like it would be so pretty too!  Be sure to post pictures!

And congratulations!

Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS, SWEETS!  Grin  Grin  Grin

Thank you!!!!

I never thought I would say "Unfortunately I'm on the west coast".... Haha, but I am!  I'm in Los Angeles, so I know there's tons of places that will have what I need, and tons of places that will have what I don't need... so it's going to take me a while to filter through every place and see what I can find.

Here's a post in the Crafty Wedding thread about the bridesmaids bouquets that I put together so far: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=89044.msg2646296#msg2646296.

Those look great!  I guess my biggest concern with using silk flowers was that they would LOOK fake.
*shudder*

Where did you get yours from?  Was it a national sort of chain, or some little mom and pop sort of crafty store?

Sorry for all the questions too!  I appreciate everyones input.

I used silk flowers (and crystals) for the bouquets, bouts and corsages.  Here's a link:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=190980.0

I've seen those boquets all over the forums and I absolutely LOOVE them!

Hi all!

Just a quick question about flowers.  How many of you used real flowers for boquets and centerpieces, versus using silk/satin/fabric (what have you) flowers?  What did you find to be the pros/cons of your choice?

I have about 100 different ideas for everything relating to my upcoming wedding, and I'm trying to figure out what the best course of action would be.

Finances aside.

Thanks Cheesy

Those are super cute and simple!  I love them.

My hair is naturally curly and I've lost things like that in my hair before. Haha. I've always been jealous of people that can wear them and look so feminine and girly Smiley

You can customize M and M's on their website now.  You can get two separate messages and you can pick you colors.  Another awesome idea if you DID want L and C instead of M and M on them Smiley
