I was in Evil Dead the Musical recently (I played the best friend), which sold out two runs, and is looking for a more perm home in Las Vegas.

Anyway I wanted our lead to have one kick ass holster.  So I watched the movies, searched the web for images, and finally put together this holster.  It took me two weeks from start to finish.
When I first looked at it I felt it was too plain (hell this was gong to be in a musical in vegas and needed a little extra umph) so I decided to carve a cool dead tree (design by urban threads) into it.  Needless to say this holster got hit by tons of "blood" over the months of the performance.
So here are some shots of the front, back, and carving (before the dye job) modeled by our star Ben Stobber as Ashley J. Williams.

Hello All,
  It hs been a really long time since I have posted anything, heck almost a year, so i thought I would start with a project I finished late last year.
  I had these wooden trays lying around from a block set my son got for a birthday years ago.
  My wife and I decided that we were going to host some parties, and we needed drink trays.
  We are both huge fans of the artist SHAG, so taking his Drunken Pirate Skeleton image I sprayed the tray with red Krylon and then used acrylic paints to make my own redition of the SHAG drinking skeleton.

I think it turned out pretty well.

For one of my recent swaps I created a pinup Bride of Frankenstein Shadow box for my partner.  It turned out so well that I wanted to make more of them like this, and this one is my second attempt at creating a shadow box.

This one was for a family friend that was feeling a bit down lately, so I wanted to cheer her up.  She is really into zombies, and I found this nice image of a zombie chick on the internet. I printed the image out in black and white, and colored her in.

I then went about decorating her room, putting up wall paper and posters.  Creating her fainting couch and window from scratch.

So here is the finished product titled “Alas Poor Yorick, I chewed him well!”


Here is two close ups of the top and bottom.  I used foam dots to give it a layered and depth look (really hard to tell in a 2 dimensional picture), and I liked the skull sticker I found to use as a throw pillow.




Here is the Bride of Frankenstein shadowbox I made for kittykill in our Psychobilly Swap


My wife still wants to know where her shadowbox is.

I walked in the Las Vegas Aid for Aids fo Nevada walk this last Sunday to show that even pirates support this worthy cause.
Putting on my garb I decided that I did not have enough accessories and my arms were a little bare (not enough tattoos yet).
So I decided to make some bracers for my forearms.

Here are the finished products.


I took some heavy leather 10oz and carved the skill and mermaid into the leather and then wet formed them to the shape I needed with the help of some two liter bottles of soda.

I am very happy with the way the red turned out with the mermaid.  I think it make her stand out.



I think my favorite thing about the skill is the eyebrow.

Finally here are a couple pics of the walk itself.
The first is to get an idea on the small portion of walkers out that day.


The second is me (the Finished product) with one of my new friends.  She was with Team Wine-Os


With them on I felt kind of like a superhero... Or maybe a supervillain.  I cannot fight my pirate nature.

I wanted to work on a leather belt, but everything I was trying to do with it did not work out, and by the time I realized that it was not working out the piece of leather that I had cut out was no longer big enough for my waist.

So what to do with this long strip of 1.5 inch leather... I know make cuff braclets for my kids, my nephew and niece.

So here are the finished products.

The first two bracelts are ones that I made for my son and nephew.  I carved the skull (An Urban Threads pattern) and added a ruby eye to each.


I then embellished them by carving crossed bones for my son, and stamping stars for my newphew (he skateboards).


For my daughter and niece I once again carved the skulls with ruby eyes


And then added cherries for my niece and hearts for my daughter.

You can see with this picture that I gave them snap closures.

I was really happy how these came out (especially since these were my first attempts).  I will look into making more of these in the future, possibly with a buckle closure instead of the snaps (that way when they grow the braclets will still fit.

This was a cell phone case I made for my sister.
She wanted a unique case and loves the color purple and the moon.

I bought a precut kit from tandy.  I stamped it, carved it, dyed it, and then sealed it.
I am very happy with the finished product.  You can clearly see the moon on the holder flap along with various shooting stars I carved into the case.

Avast Ye Scallywags.  I be Captain Justin Kase of the Dread Pirate Ship SeaMonkey and I have returned from Davey Jones locker with the Pirate Swap.  I am searching for those of the brethren Court who be of the crafting sort to outfit fellow buccaneers with piratey type accoutrements.

Now I know as pirates you be just used to taken things, but if ye try that aboard my ship I have yer guts for garters boyo.

We be using the numbering system for this here swap.  You have to send yer partner enough booty to equal 4-6 points.

Small Item = 1 point

Med Item = 2 Points

Large Item = 3 Points

For those cabin boys and girls among us (new swappers) there might be a bit of a confusion as to what is a large, medium, and small item.  So here's a handy map.  This is not totally set in stone, but is a rough estimate of sizes described by time it takes to make package, by physical size and by cost:

Small = By time, 2 or less hours of crafting. By $$$, $10 or less. By size, Earrings, stickers, wallets, pouches, bookmarks…

A friend of mine had a birthday recently, and I wanted to make him something he could not get anywhere else.
I wanted to make a beer holster for him, and yes it does what the name implies.
So he is in a band and he likes pinup girls (who doesn't) and day of the dead motifs.  So I created for him the No Guante, No Amor beer holster. (I took the carving patterns from my wife embroidery collection of Jenny Hart patterns)



Here is the finished product.  From the front you get the girl, the skull, and the saying No Amor.

From the Sides is when you get the full message.



Here is a closeup of the girl.  She was hand carved by me, and I used paints to color and shade her in.
