11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Poofy cable cap....several pics on: September 27, 2008 05:43:34 PM
I knitted this cap using the Cabled Newsboy Cap pattern from Stitch 'N' Bitch Nation but instead of Blue Sky Worsted Yarn, I used Sensations Angel Hair Stripes. Sorry...I couldn't find the label so I'm not sure exactly which dye lot it was. It came out a little bigger than I anticipated but the change in yarn works well if you want to knit a cap for dreds or just tucking really long hair up into.

I apologize for my ridiculous facial expressions...I just couldn't keep a straight one Tongue

I'd love to know what you think or if anyone has tried this pattern with a different kind of yarn.
Thanks so much!
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Searching: Ivy Cap Pattern on: July 15, 2008 11:03:33 PM
Hi everyone,

My boyfriend is begging me to knit him an ivy cap like the pic I've posted here.

I've googled my heart out and can't seem to find a pattern for one...if anyone knows of one or at least a basic hat pattern I might be able to tweak could you let me know. It would be so SOOOO appreciated. Thanks so much!

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / New Mary Jane Slippers on: May 24, 2008 05:55:39 PM
Hi folks...I'm finally back around after I spent the last few weeks moving into a new apartment and got it set up to functioning capacity. Just finished these last night.

They would have looked better on a foot in the pics but I didn't want to put them on my feet....not to mention I just got back from hiking and my feet are stinky...blechhhh
14  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Alberto Vargas Pinup Girl Coasters on: March 29, 2008 06:01:16 PM
I was planning on painting today, but realized I was out of gesso...so rummaging through the closet, looking for something creative to do, I found these boring glass coasters that you insert pictures into...they were some gift from a distant aunt or something and have been collecting dust for ages...so I thought pinup girl coasters would make a fine addition to my coffee table.

sorry for the graininess of the pic...glass is so hard to photograph without a flash...

If you love pinup art and are not familiar with Alberto Vargas I highly recommend checking out his work. Of course, being that these are copies of his work, these coasters are completely intended for my own whiskey drinking use.

Hi Everyone! Just finished this painting this afternoon...i kept nitpicking at it and finally had to put down the brushes and BACK AWAY...i figured if i posted it on here that would force me to leave it alone so I can move onto the next Tongue It features 2 of my favorite fellas...my beloved Tomato Dragon and his buddy Spirit Badger.

Hope at least one person out there likes it...well my boyfriend did..but he's a bit biased I think.

19  COOKING / Dessert / Lower Fat oatmeal chocolate chip cookies on: March 12, 2008 06:06:55 PM
I'm always looking for a healthier option when it comes to desserts. I substituted the butter here with Sunsweet's Lighter Bake and the brown sugar with Lundberg's organic Brown Rice Syrup...they came out really soft and moist and yummy...so here's the recipe if anyone wants to try it.

1C unbleached all purpose flour
3Tb. unsweetened cocoa powder
1Tsp. baking powder
1/2 Tsp. baking soda
1/2 Tsp. fine sea salt
1/2 Tsp. cinnamon
1/4 C + 1Tb. Lighter Bake
1/2 C Brown Rice Syrup
1/2 C fine organic cane sugar
1 egg
1 Tsp. Vanilla extract
1 1/4 C uncooked oats
1/2 C semi-sweet dark chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking sheet.

In a smaller bowl combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon and mix well.

In a larger bowl cream together the Lighter Bake, Brown Rice Syrup, and cane sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix well. Add the oats and chocolate chips. Drop by rounded tablespoon fulls onto cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before moving to a wire cooling rack. Cool completely and store in air tight container.

If anyone makes them let me know what you think.

Cheers!
