1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Comic Con? on: July 16, 2010 10:18:47 AM
Anyone going to Comic Con next week?  I'm going as Morrigan from Dragon Age unless I lose my nerve.

Here's the skirt:

Hello -- sorry I am so late to post!  Here is the AWESOME scarf I got from Yelutci:

It is so soft, I love it!

Lucy Van Pelt asked me to post pictures of what I sent her, it's a pillow/plush that looks like one of her favorite books Smiley

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Tri Colored Foreign Coin Necklaces on: February 18, 2009 11:59:48 AM
these are cool, how did you drill the holes. I have tried using a dremmel type tool but no joy, Perhaps I was using the wrong bit (I tried a number of different kinds)

Yes please tell!
6  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: January 2009 Birthday Swap LISTS ONLY (Sign-ups Jan 4 to Jan 31) on: January 24, 2009 12:28:07 AM
Hi all, I'm Jessica.  I'm turning 28 on January 28th (whoa).  I live in an apartment in Los Angeles with my husband and two cats.   I work in the film industry and am proudly a huge nerd.  I like comics, science fiction, and all sorts of scripted television, everything from Mad Men to BSG.  I first learned to sew so that I could cosplay at Comic Con.  I also really like to cook, as long as its vegetables... I'm a (not very strict) vegetarian.

I'm in the process of redecorating my living room/ dining area, so I'd like some cute things for it.  The colors are navy blue, country blue, and apple green.  I live in an apartment, though, so I try to avoid things that have no purpose - I don't have that much space.

Craft's I'd like:
-A warm, attractive throw blanket.  Fleece, knit, crochet, or whatever.
-Set of 4 place mats, for my dinner table.
-A cozy for my Klean Kantene.  It's a metal water bottle and while eco-friendly, it gets very warm/cold when full.
-Painted pots for plants, like terra cotta medium sized pots.
-Scarves... but I live in California, so just the pretty girly kind, not the warm kind.
-A lunch bag, big enough to carry a gladware container.
-A guitar strap with some geeky appeal
-A pin cushion bracelet, also bonus points for geeky appeal
-Anything Buffy inspired
-Funny cross stitches, I especially like pixel-y cross stitches
-A small container that can hold about $20 of quarters, for laundry.

Supplies I'd like:
-Fabric
-Buttons
-Yarn
-Lace
-Ball fringe
-A measuring tape (I accidentally cut mine)
-Freezer paper (never been able to find this either)
-There's really no craft item I don't want.

Extras:
-Amusing kitsch
-Music
-Vegetarian recipes
-Surprise me Smiley

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: What to use if not mugs? on: December 18, 2008 05:19:07 PM

i have the same problem, just a little more problematic.
i don't want to use mugs, but i want the "something i use instead" to be a little present too.

Hey, along the same lines as a reusable grocery bag, you could put stuff in an oilcloth lunch bag
8  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: Here's something NEW! Fused Glass Drop Ring Vase on: December 18, 2008 12:05:40 PM
Gorgeous!  It looks like a oil diffuser, the kind you put a candle beneath.  I wonder if you could use it like that.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Felt Advent Calendar (mmm Ghirardelli) on: December 18, 2008 12:01:52 PM
i love this it reminds me of my advent calender when i was younger. it was a felt christmas tree with red pockets and gold glitter glue numbers, i think my mum bought them from a school fair. anyway, yeah i think these are so much better to the store bought ones, although that is what i have this year.
i think the stable would look great in the blanket stitch as you have already done a brilliant job of it already, it looks very crisp and clean.. tis very lovely, i hope this doesnt tilt to the side as the chocolates get eaten from left to right though  Smiley

The one I saw in Germany was a felt Christmas tree like that.  After spending way too much time on this, I did wonder why I didn't just buy it.

And it does tilt to the side... oops!  Bad planning on my part. But I can adjust for it by shifting the string.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Ornaments with real face time appeal! on: December 17, 2008 10:07:12 AM
Oh my cuteness!  I love the use of buttons, esp on the snowmen.
