I signed up a few weeks ago, and so did my husband. (We found out about the program from a different web site, not Craftster.) My soldier is a tactical vehicle driver in Iraq, and she says she doesn't need anything, but I'd still like to send her *something*. We have sent a few emails, and I am sending a snail mail letter tomorrow.
My husband is writing to an infantryman in Iraq, who wanted a baseball and a baseball glove, as well as hygiene products, power strips, and candy to give to the Iraqi kids. It's too much for us to buy by ourselves, so I have asked friends if they can contribute to the box, and they are also asking their colleagues at work. I think we'll have a great box to send off.
I found a helpful website that gives very specific, detailed instructions on how to best pack a care package for a soldier deployed overseas. I'll go find it now and post it below.http://teachspace.org/soldiersangels/mentees/index.html
