5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Lost birthday party on: July 12, 2010 10:36:19 AM
For my sisters birthday she wanted a Lost themed party.
I made a cake.

This is the first time I have made a cake this elaborate. It's red velvet, with butter cream icing. The "sand" is light brown sugar. The dark blue waves are tinted piping gel.
I also made cupcakes and candy sushi.

For the cupcakes I made dharma picks.
And I made dharma wraps for the drinks.

Let me know what you think. Or if you have questions. Thanks!
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Spring Flower Ink Pens on: April 19, 2010 02:16:16 PM
Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. To celebrate, I made flower ink pens.

I glued fake flowers to the tops of ink pens and wrapped them in floral tape. I know this has been done before, by someone, somewhere, but I wanted to give them a try. They turned out well. Their super easy to make and don't take much time. I posted a more detailed tutorial on my blog. Here is the link.

Comments and questions welcome.
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Bruce the Moose on: April 01, 2010 09:42:28 AM
This is Bruce the Moose from Canada. I made this moose stuffed animal for a friends birthday. The body is fleece and the flag is felt. Bruce is now a mascot for my sisters winterguard team. They carried him around on championship day and even had their photos taken with him. Now he's a gold medalist too!

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Mohawk Hats on: March 18, 2010 02:58:49 PM
Just a tip, if you want the mohawk less floppy, you can use wool yarn and felt it.  That's not to say yours don't look awesome already, I just thought I'd give you the tip in case you wanted to try out a different look.
Did you use self-striping yarn or did you use a bunch of different colors?
I thought about using wool but it was easier and cheaper to use acrylic yarn. Also the yarns are stripping!
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Mohawk Hats on: March 18, 2010 11:16:15 AM
I made my sister and some of her friends Mohawk hats. I have made 3 so far. I used a normal hat pattern and then tied 4 inch yarn strips down the center. They are a lot of fun to make. I am hoping to get some better pictures and a picture of the third hat soon.

Comments welcome. Grin
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Quilt block identification, help please. on: September 10, 2009 11:27:49 AM
I bought a bag of unfinished quilt blocks from a yard sale. I want to finish the quilt blocks, but I don't know what pattern it is. It looks to me like some kind of patchwork star block.  The pieces are sew to old news papers. Some of the blocks have more patchwork than others. I'm not sure that the quilt block is supposed to be done in patchwork. One of the newspapers on the block is dated 1966.

Can anyone tell me what the name of this block is or guide me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
