1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: NEVER AGAIN! The Hat that drove me a little insane! on: December 31, 2011 05:53:48 PM
OMG, this is fantastic! I hope you plan to post a pattern, I would love to make one. Are the spikes stuffed?
Yes, I stuffed the spike a little with poly-fill. And wow, thanx guys, you really know how to humble a crafterer, lol.

A couple of months ago, a friend approached me with a picture of a crocheted Godzilla hat, that she found online. When I first laid eyes on it, my jaw dropped in disbelief that someone would put that much work into a hat. Of course I took up the challenge, eager to see how I could improve upon the design. Let me tell you guys, it WAS NOT easy. My version took about 1.5 months to complete, but mostly bc I had to plot and plan every detail and FROG a lot of it. Somethings were good in concept, but just didnt work, like a picot row accross the spikes, which didnt stand up. In the end, I was really happy with the results, and I've even resolved to write down the pattern. Thanks guys, C&C appreciated.

I made some hats for a few of my friends kids, and even though I still have a few more to go, I think I've made a good dent so far. These each took me about a day to do, and I absolutely love how they came out! So much so that I was very tempted not to gift them, lol. I still have an Oscar the Grouch, Abby Cadaby, 2 more Elmo's and 1 more cookie monster to make. These were made with Red Heart Super Saver yarn and Lion Brand Fun Fur. Enjoy, any C&C's appreciated!

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / The cutest things I've ever made! on: December 03, 2011 10:09:45 PM

So a while back I got a request for a Polar bear hat, which I thought was funny, bc I live in MN, and I could imagine my friend "blending into the landscape" Cheesy. I decided to make the hat as cute as possible, even though my ideas clashed with my frriends. So I made 2 versions of the hat, the first was the original , and the second was what I wanted it to be. I dont usually like working with Fun Fur, bc as some of you know it can get tangled quite easily, and it makes it hard to see the stitches. But its starting to grow on me, especially after my latest creations, straight from Sesame Street! c&c very valued. Thanks guys!

Polar Bear hat version 1.0-Felt eyes and nose, No ear flaps, no frill, but still cute! ( I like to think of it as "baby bear")

Polar Bear hat version 2.0- Blue felt eyes and nose, Ear flaps, and pom poms, so cute, I DEF had a hard time parting with it!

Elmo- poly stuffed nose and eyes for a more realistic effect.

Cookie Monster- Felt mouth, poly stuffed eyes, and by far my fave thing, Cookie pom poms! The one on the left is an Oreo and the one on the right is a chocolate chip. I used the Clover pom pom makers, which are now my FAVE tool!

9  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: "Disposable" Contact Lens Containers on: September 16, 2011 05:03:45 PM
Mini Daleks! Or you can use them as molds for stuff.. I dont know what.. but probably something that could cure in cold and not heat. Um.. SUPER mini soaps? Punch holes and paint them with water colors and make an awesome mobile/ sun catcher. If you cut them out, you can glue them to paper and make snow globe x-mas cards.. the posibilities are endless!!
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Do Not Meddle... on: September 15, 2011 06:04:39 PM
I dont know where this originated, but I've seen the t-shirt that reads, "Do not meddle with dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!" Lol. Great job, love the dragon!
