11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Frogging Kidsilk Haze on: December 05, 2006 01:33:33 AM
Near the end of my Birch shawl I realised that I do not have enough yarn to finish it.  Rather than buying a new dyelot I think I'm going to find another use for this yarn but is frogging really an option?  Anyone have experience reusing kidsilk haze?
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Shawl collared cardigan pattern on: November 09, 2006 02:01:52 AM
Does anybody know of a free shawl collared cardigan pattern?  I've been looking but have come up a bit short.  Or can someone explain how to get that effect?  Thank you very much Smiley
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Uneven ribbing on: October 04, 2006 04:34:51 AM
I've been knitting Knitty's Shedir hat in a dk weight yarn (similar gauge to Calmer) with 3.25mm needles and am finding that my knit stitches look very uneven.  Instead of the Vs looking nice and tight they are quite wide and unapplealing.  This makes the cabling look undefined.  What's the problem?  Is it knitting a thicker yarn with smaller needles?
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Chunky knit for a man on: August 25, 2006 10:06:37 AM
In moving house I lost the pattern for a sweater for my bf using rowanspun chunky.  Where can I find a mens sweater pattern in a chunky knit, about 11 - 13 st/4 inches.  Thanks for the help.
15  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Patterns for handspun on: June 18, 2006 12:03:58 PM
Hello all,

I just spun up some beautiful Welsh Blackmountain fleece and it's given me a lovely soft, rich yarn but with little stitch defintion.  I've got 500gms of 4ply yarn.  Any suggestions for patterns?  Or patterns in general for handspun?
16  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / How to choose the right weight yarn on: June 11, 2006 01:37:36 AM
Hi everyone, I'm a knitter who has started crocheting and loving it.  I'm having a bit of trouble choosing yarn for projects though, because crochet gauge is completely different I can't base my yarn purchases on that.  So how do you manage to get appropriate yarn if the pattern doesn't tell you what weight the yarn is?  Because I'm in UK terms for weight are slightly different, and I'm unfamiliar with some of the yarns used in patterns so I can't make a guess.  Is there a way to know what kind of yarn to get by the hook size?  Thanks for your help.
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / How many projects is too many? on: April 27, 2006 01:58:36 PM
How many knitting projects do you have on the go at once?  I find that I need one for every "challenge" to keep myself interested.  So right now I have a cabling project, lace, fair isle, unique shaping, and socks.  I rotate between them depending on how I feel.  I tried to keep myself to "just one project" but found I kept losing interest.
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What to wear with handknit socks on: April 22, 2006 10:41:07 AM
I saw this question posted on a different knitting forum but would love to hear the opinions of the craftster crew.  What kind of shoes do you wear with your handknit socks?  I only have a couple of pairs that I wear around the house, but I hope to get some clog style birkenstocks to wear them out in.
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / 6 balls Jaegar Shetland Aran on: April 02, 2006 07:09:56 AM
While looking through my stash I realised I have 6 balls of unused Jaegar Shetland Aran in a gorgeous pumpkin colour.  It's a soft worsted wool but have forgotten what I bought it for.  Anyone have any recommendations?  It's a little over 1000 yards in total.  I'd love to use it for a big wearable project...and am willing to pay for the pattern if need be.  Thanks in advance for the help Smiley
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / UK sock yarns on: September 14, 2005 05:07:49 PM
I've now found a new love of knitting socks, but being in the UK the only yarns I've been able to find are from Opal or Regia.  My sock patterns often recommend Brown Sheep yarns, is there anything that can be used as an equivalent or will any 4-ply yarn work?  Thanks for the help.
