I've signed up too. I've only signed up for one dishcloth though, I'm a slow knitter.
12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Pride Swap? on: July 07, 2008 11:32:30 AM
I'd like to go a gay themed swap, I had a look and found the gallery for a previous one http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=54427.0 there's lots of cool stuff, with lots of rainbowy nice things.

We could call it the Ladies and Gentleman's Basketball Team swap (look at the initials  Smiley ) That's what my friends in my uni LGBT group used to call it sometimes.

There's already a rainbow theme swap being planned too which might be fun for anyone who likes the rainbow pride stuff.

I think the points thing would be a great idea. I'm really allergic to nickel so I can only wear sterling silver earrings, and it would seem unfair to expect a swap partner to use more expensive materials if they had to make the same amount as if they were using cheaper stuff.

I'd love to join this swap, but I just signed up to two swaps with sendouts end of july/beginning of august so I would only really be able to join if the sendouts weren't at the same time as my other swaps. I have only done one swap before so I don't want to take on too many at once yet.

I just joined up too, I really like the idea of the one tiny thing swap. I think this will be lots of fun.

Wow! I love the little teabook, it's so cute. And I'm impressed by the zipper on the pouch- is it hard to make them go around corners like that?

Everyone's made such lovely things, I would definitely be up for another round at some point. Especially because in less than two weeks all my essays and exams will be done with until September, so I'll have a bit more free time.

You're right, it wasn't a fill a pouch swap, but Dinasaurus Meg said it was ok if we wanted to, and our partner agreed. I think Mixymo and I got a bit carried away with the crafting...

I received from mixymo today, and if you think she was spoiled, well, you will be amazed by the package I received!

I honestly would have felt spoiled if all she had sent was one of the little acorn stitch markers, I can't believe how perfect they are, all those little tiny stitches! Oops- See why I should read the letter before I get carried away with the pictures! It turns out the stitchmarkers are actually cupcakes, that got a bit squished on their trip across the sea,and looked a bit more acorn shaped than cupcakes! Of course the colours make more sense with cupcakes than acorns, and after squishing them back to their intended shape they look nothing like acorns. Sorry Mixymo! Does it help that I think they're amazing as either cupcakes or acorns?

Pictures! (I hope there's not too many- it was hard to resist putting up separate pictures for each thing they are all so great)

Here's everything all together:

A close up of the zipper pouch showing the cute lining, I love the way the lining shows  through to the outside, so pretty.

Crochet cupcake stitch markers- these are just gorgeous, but I think they may become jewellery as well as stitch markers, they are too cute to be just practical.

Jewellery! The flower on the fabric bracelet is actually a separate brooch but I think they look good together. I love the button brooch and the necklace will look lovely with the buttons.

And a crochet hedgehog pincushion (It seems almost cruel to stick pins in the cute little thing)

Plus the all important chocolate. As you can see I've already made a start on the chocolate... You can't get the violet crumble things here, and they are amazing. They are like crunchies but even nicer. I was a bit disappointed they weren't actually violet flavour though, that really would be the best chocolate ever  Smiley

I just love everything, it's really amazing how someone I've never met could put together so many things that are just perfect. Mixymo- you have definitely spoiled me for future swaps, I don't think anyone could come up with a better swap package. If you ever need a partner for one of those bring your own partner swaps, just let me know.

Thankyou so much Mixymo, you really have made my first swap the best swap ever.

I'm so glad you like it all Mixymo, I had a bit of a case of swap anxiety, it being my first swap. I really enjoyed the stalking bit of this swap thing, it was lots of fun trying to come up with things you would like. The needlebook was my favourite thing, I'd never done patchwork before, and I wanted to keep it, but I have plenty of the tiny squares I used so I can make another one for me. I can't wait till my package arrives, you have got my all excited with all that talk of tiny crochet hooks!
