71  Weed the 'not a mermaid' in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: March 16, 2008 06:31:59 AM

This is Weed.  Shes not a mermaid, if anything she has a pretty miserable existance under the sea, as merfolk avoid her and fish avoid her, caught between mermaid and mackerel shes a bit of a misfit (kinda like all my creations LOL) Her hair took forever because the wool has little knots in it

I felt bad for weed, being so lonely so I created a second 'not a mermaid' to keep her company, unfortunately this 2nd one has now gone off to live in america as part of a craft swap.  I enjoyed making them both although secretly Weed was originally supposed to be a fairy, so she annoyed me qute a bit as i viewed her as a bit of a failure but really shes grown on me quite a bit

72  Jonathan the pirate snail in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: March 14, 2008 05:20:36 PM

Jonathan, or Jonny to his mates is a pretty rubbish snail, looting, plundering and pillaging is pretty tough to do when your only 6 inches high and really really slow. he wears his hat all day every day, because hes aware hes starting to go bald

Jonathans eyepatch is something he enjoys wearing for it makes him feel like a tougher more authentic pirate, Theres actually nothing wrong with his eyesight whatsoever

All joking aside his hat took forever mainly cause im not used to not working in circles.  I'm quite pleased but theres something not right about him thats niggling me

I introduced Scott to Percival a few moments ago and they hit it off straight away.  Unfortunately percival has to leave 2moro never to return.  Poor Scott,  but hes young and im sure there are plenty more fish in the sea..or should that be seasnails

74  A different tougher snail in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: March 12, 2008 11:19:20 AM
Inspired by the success of my first snail I decided to make a second to keep her company. My boyfriend being goth I thought I'd make a punk goth snail in the hopes of being allowed to keep him, but alas no.  I'll keep trying.  but here is my new punk snail

This is scot, he's only 17 a typical clumsy teenager snail. He trips over his own foot quite alot, but he managed to avoid acne. He likes going to gigs and moshing very very slowly

Hes made from wool and polyester filling, the necklace is made from beads that look like dice he also has thin wire in his antenna to make them poseable hes about 20cm(6 inches) tall and the mohawk is made from feathers

Chobits is awesome, all of clamps anime is awesome which was why my first ever amigurumi was keroberos from cardcaptor sakura.  You can tell he was my first for i used a big hook with small wool so it was really loose but i didnt know that

But I think i'm gonna do chii next I've got it figgured in my head how to do her so should be okay, but i'm gonna need fimo for her hair bobbles

76  2 projects i completed -atashi and gothgirl in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: March 11, 2008 12:49:30 PM
I tend to half do things and then come back to them when I feel inspired to finish them.  These two I completed

the first one I completed properly yesterday by totally finishing the hair and sorting out some of the back this is my goth amigurumi girl. her name is rose, she acts tough but really she goes home and watches disney movies.  She wishes she had some good friends to hang out with, but whenever anyone tries to be friendly she just acts hard.  I guess its so she doesnt get hurt by friends letting her down, but its better to risk being hurt than to not feel friendship ever.

the black bits on her arms arnt on her arms at all but are infact parts of the braids in her hair.

The 2nd ami I finished today is atashi from chobits.  It was my main aim in learning crochet to make myself a set of chobits dolls, from sumomo to chii and even a hideki but to begin with i better start of slow, so heres atashi.  I'll make freyas atashi too once i get the right shade of wool.

If you havent seen chobits or read the manga of it, then I would heartily suggest it, for it is oober awesome

77  Re: Celebrate your etsy milestones! (First sale, your stuff on the main page, etc!) in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by samigurumi on: March 09, 2008 11:35:18 AM

Well today was the big day for me.  I actually sold one of my creations an like everyone has already sai.  its such an awesome feeling knowing you've made something that someone else thinks is worthy enough to buy.  This frog had googly eyes and a ribbit box inside of him so when you squeezed him he croaked.  he's gone to america now.  I hope he likes his new life.  but does anyone else feel guilty selling their stuff.  i put soo much effort into each thing i make that I kinda get attached to them and they end up growing little personalities so i feel bad when they leave me, even if it is for money that then funds my wool habit

78  snail amigurumi in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: March 09, 2008 01:49:49 AM
Hi there.  this is my introuction post as today I have joined craftster.  I only discovered this site existed today...im a bit slow.  My names samantha  im 26 I live in the UK and on february the 8th I randomly woke up and decided to teach myself how to crochet.  I bought a cheap crochet hook and some wool and found a tutorial on youtube on how to crochet and away I went.  I havent looked back since really and my goth fiancee is pulling his hair out in frustration as all his skulls and bats and goth type stuff is slowly being replaced by cute amigurumied animals.  Anyway my most recent project was a snail.  I saw a picture of one on flickr I think and decided I wanted to do one so here it is.

Comments (even critical ones) would be appreciated cause its only through seeing flaws can you truely improve

bye and nice to meet you all.
