21  Beer versus Cider in Completed Projects by samigurumi on: January 09, 2010 08:16:41 AM

I finally finished another of my music videos for one of my songs.  The response to the kitkat song was so giant that it really made me think about some ideas for some of my songs.  This one is about the great battle of beer versus cider.  I used to be a cider drinker before I met my husband but he converted me to real ale and thats what this comedy song is all about.

All the beers in this video are ones i've tried.  I'm not an alcoholic honest, just a proud member of CAMRA (which is the Campaign for Real Ale) and there are soo many beers out there that I havent tried, its almost like pokemon, you gotta catch them all.  The song isnt as catchy as the kitkat song, but its still one of my faves and always gets a laugh at gigs I play it at.

22  Kitkat Kitkat in Completed Projects by samigurumi on: December 02, 2009 03:15:52 PM

I think this is where this goes.  For a long time I have dreamed about recording an album, but I never had the self confidence in my own ability to really get out there and try.  It was on my list of things to do before I died and I finally got up the courage to go to a music studio and get it done properly.  I finished the album a few days ago.
To celebrate I decided to try my hand at stop animation to make a video for one of my songs which is all about kitkats.  I sing comedy songs you see, about things like ebay and beer.  Anyway this video took waay longer than any crochet project I have ever done and I wanted to share it with people because i'm really really proud of it.  It took over 500 pictures and 9 kitkats.  All the kitkats were harmed in the making of the movie, my husband ate a lot of them, and I melted one with a hairdryer so yeah the poor kitkats had a hard time.

I'd be really appreciative if people told me what they thought of my kitkat stop animation video.  The song was written  and sung by me and guitar playing was done by me too.

23  Scott take 2 (5 pics) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: August 31, 2009 07:00:17 AM
Ages back I made a punk snail and A friend really wanted him so I sent him to canada and instantly missed him.  Recently I was asked to make a new punk snail and so I made him and also wrote a song about him (I do punk/folk/comedy songs on guitar) I sung the song at a recent music festival and it went down really really well.  So I have to give this scott to someone too.  Which means i'm going to have to make a third one.  This new one has some improvements to the first one.  Anyway better show you some pictures. He came with me to the punk/folk festival and danced and got drunk with me.  We had an awesome time

He has the anarchy symbol tattooed onto one side of his shell

After we put the tent up (luckily we have one of those pop up tents because it was tipping it down) the sun came out

Then he needed some chips before jumping up and down to a lot of very good noisy music

And finally it was time for bed.  The weekend must have been very tiring for a punk snail.  I know i'm certainly shattered.

24  Some art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by samigurumi on: August 22, 2009 07:46:51 AM
This is Squidge.  Squidge is just a toddler girl full of enthusiasm and boundless energy like all kids her age.  She's always happy and never gets down for very long, unless shes hungry or tired.  She loves octopuses.  I guess shes how I view my inner child. Carefree and content.

This is my version of Raspberyl from the computer game disgaea 3 all done in GIMP which is a free paint/draw package.  raspberyl is without doubt the best character in the game.  I want to cosplay her one day.

I find doing art really is like therapy to me.  Im no good with paintbrushes I end up covered in the stuff so I have tonnes of respect for those who can paint properly.  For me though its drawn then scanned the coloured digitally.  At least theres an undo button.

25  Wilt in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: August 18, 2009 11:53:13 PM

This is Wilt. Hes a rabbit incase it wasn't obvious. You can't tell but he's actually really annoyed because he cant find his mobile phone charger and his phone is running out of battery and he has to go to work very soon.

He works at a starbucks, not making very much money at all, but he knows eventually he'll move on to better things, this is just a stop gap to make a little bit of cash before he goes to university to study marine biology

26  Benn the Lonely Fly in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: August 17, 2009 04:03:31 PM

This is Benn. Benn is a fly. He has stubble on his face because he doesnt have a shaver cause he's just a fly. He has no legs so if you pull his wings off he'd just be a raisin.

He likes romantic movies and long flys on the beach. Isnt too keen on gardening and is allergic to cats. He's looking for a girlfriend but what with his quirky sense of humour and his lack of legs all the lady flies just dont seem interested.  I like him though

27  Caravan of Love in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: August 14, 2009 11:42:25 AM

This is my caravan of love.  hehehe...Actually a friend asked me to make her a caravan and this was the end result. It took ages trying to figure out how to stuff it to keep its shape, in the end I used foam.  I had great fun making this and was actually surprised to see it turn out not too shabby.

Here it is from a few different angles.

The girl I made it for was named tracy so the number plate says TR 1 Its about 25cm long and 15cm wide.  The pattern was completely made up from scratch, funnily enough you dont find many caravan crochet patterns around.

28  Rapunzel Rapunzel slime down your hair in Crochet: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: July 23, 2009 12:14:39 AM

So its been a long time since I properly picked up a crochet hook  (the best part of a year in fact) and recently a couple of my friends have asked me to do quite big projects so, worried that I was out of touch with my hooks and wool I decided to just make a snail for practice.

I used to make snails all the time, punk snails, pirate snails, baby snails, snails that smelled of lavender.  For no reason whatsoever.

SO anyway this is my Rapunzel snail.  The photo is rubbish but then so is my camera so I dont think i'm going to get much better than that.  Sad  sorry.
I m feeling the urge to seriously get back into crochetting now which makes me really happy

30  Disney Doodling in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by samigurumi on: March 14, 2009 02:52:11 AM
Recently i've really been surprising myself and making some cool disney art. ....okay that sounds conceited.  What I mean is, ive been doing drawings better than I normally have been and I've really been enjoying myself doing them.  A few people have even asked me to do commisions for them which has made me feel really good and proud of myself cause I never thought i'd even be good enough for someone else to want some of my artwork.
But anyway this is an anime take on some of the more popular disney characters.

This is alice.  I love this picture more for the cheshire cat than for alice.

I drew belle before Alice, but it occured to me whilst drawing alice that their outfits are very similiar.

Then theres mulan, she was the first disney girl I drew because Mulan is by far and above my most favourite disney character shes really brave and strong and not afraid to get grubby.  I want to be just like her (without the 'being in the army' bit)

And finally

Tinkerbell.  With this picture I messed around witha  whole heap of new features I'd discovered on GIMP.  Im really enjoying myself and actually feel really chilled out all this week  Because of the art ive been doing.

Anyway constructive critisim would be really useful.  *hugs*

Who should I draw next, any suggestions?
