1  Lovesick in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by samigurumi on: February 12, 2011 03:42:14 AM
Valentines day always gets me as being faaaar too commercial.  Me and my husband sort of boycott Valentines day, simply because we don't need a day to focus on the fact that we love one another because, as sickly as that sounds, we love each other, every day.

I always make sure I make him a card though.  And this is this years one

You know when you've found true love, when you can barf on someone and they don't leave.  *giggles*

2  Re: Dalek of crochetted goodness in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: January 28, 2011 04:56:01 AM
I gave the dalek to my friend on Tuesday and He was amazed and hyperactive.  His partner was even more hyperactive and she commandeered the dalek before he really had chance to touch it, claiming it as hers LOL.
Thankfully they have come to a compromise and now apparantly it sits pride of place on their bedroom dressing table.

Before I gave Paul the dalek, I snapped this silly little comic.  Starring Cassius the cat I crochetted years ago now.

I guess it's just my odd sense of humour that I found this funny.

3  Dalek of crochetted goodness (silly comic on pg2) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: January 24, 2011 06:25:36 AM
So Before Xmas, before I even started making the crochetted Pylon I recently put up.  I started on making a Dalek for my friend.  He is a massive dr who fan, his collection is extensive, in that he has a room dedicated to all the dr Who stuff he has, so I wanted to get him something I knew he probably wouldn't have.

So Voila!  one crochetted Dalek

You know the silliest part, that even though it took me over a month and a bit of various trial and error, making up random stitches I have no idea whether they officially exist or not, and swearing a fair bit.  The part that I am most proud of is the teeny bit of light blue at the end of the sticky out bit or..whatever those bits of daleks are called.

I hope people like it.  I am going to try and write the pattern down, although thats gonna be...interesting due to the weird random things I did.  Like The grey grill looking bit I crochetted directly over the top of the black and, i'm not entirely sure how I would go about decribing that in a pattern. I'll give it a shot anyway.

The dalek is much redder in real life and stands about 25cm high

4  Cuddly Pylon in Crochet: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: December 24, 2010 05:25:42 AM
My husband is a nut when it comes to teh national grid,  he loves anything electrical and so for xmas I decided to crochet a pylon.  I learnt a lot from this experience.  Mainly to never ever crochet a pylon again.

Although if he is a good boy next year I promised him i'd crochet him a substation.

The picture does not do this monster justice, its over a foot in height and was done over many nights.

I think perhaps he is the only man in the world with a cuddly pylon and the only man in the world who would actually want one.

5  This little piggy in Crochet: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: July 24, 2010 08:09:36 AM
It my neice's 3rd birthday in a couple of days and she is absolutely besotted with pigs, so I made her a bag that is in the shape of a pig.  It took me about 3 days of near continuous work, as I messed up the inner bag part a couple of times before I figgured out a better way of doing it

I really hope she loves it, I want to make one for me now hehehe

I wanted to say thankyou to dharma_rebel for my wonderful birthday guitar strap.  I really love it and its so much better than my old shoddy one.  Its unique like my guitar and..me I guess so it fits into my whole stage performances really well.

Sorry I haven't posted these sooner, life has just been...interesting, so I havent really been online.

It was a fantastic weather weekend and the whole thing was great.  Now I just have to get used to writing that im 29 rather than 28 that always takes me about half a year to get in my head that im a different age LOL

8  Wiggity Wig in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: May 24, 2010 03:37:17 PM
I got a new Ball-jointed doll (shes a bobobie sprite for anyone interested)  a couple of weeks ago. I named her Wren, she came with a gorgeous long red wig but it didnt fit the character I had in her mind, so I looked around online for a replacement wig to fit the techy sort of character I had for her and couldn't find one that would work for her character so I had to resort to making one.  This was the result.

I'm actually really pleased with how it turned out.  I didnt expect it to be that great but its beyond great its perfect for how I imagined her to be.

Shes a sort of Abbey from NCIS but more reserved.  I am going to attempt to make her some clothes. I want to make her punk stuff but I tried to make a simple skirt yesterday and it was epic fail.  how can you fail making a skirt?  Seriously I suck at sewing, thats why having this wig turn out okay was actually a surprise.

You know i'm sad that this swap has come to an end so quickly.  I actually should have recieved this parcel on monday from avacadoeldorado but I as at work so today was the re-delivery day I had asked for but I was at work again luckily my husband was in so he took the package in for me so it was waiting for me when I got home.
People are you ready to feel utterly jealous.

These cute little sock monsters are actually pin badges so I can wear them out.  How awesome is that.  My fave one is definetly the little blue one with the cape and his tongue sticking out. I've named him jeremy, the squid is called Ethel and the little vampire frog dude is called Barry.

I'm a reddwarf fan, I always have been, although I never mentioned this to my swap partner so she definetly did some detective work and sussed me out pretty well.

This bag is ace!!  I know my mates at work are going to be monster green with envy Cheesy

Then finally when I saw this I actually squealed like a girl...I know I am a girl but I dont do the girl squealy thing very often.

ITS A CACTUAR!!!

Again i'm a HUGE HUGE HUUUUUUGE final fantasy fan, more detective work from avacadoeldorado.  I truely didnt expect this at all.
I've been making him run away from things all evening making him make that little hgh pitched beedalebee noise as he scuttles around away from the cats. He's big and i've called him Tetley.

Thankyou Avacadoeldorado, you're a fantastic swapper and i'm really really happy.

10  My first bugbear in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by samigurumi on: May 17, 2010 12:11:54 AM

This is my bugbear, I made it for the monster craftswap.  I wanted to make something really random.  Bugbears are actually quite aggressive and very ugly, but this one doesnt fit the mould, as a result it has no friends and its family dont talk to it.

Poor bugbear
