1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Elf slippers... with pics. on: November 13, 2009 04:37:06 PM
My sister has been begging me for ages to make her slippers.  So the smart alec that I am decided to make her elf slippers.  And here they are, 99% completed.  Just one little finishing detail to do and then I'm done.  The first slipper I just kinda made up as I went along, kind of following a pattern, jabbing my hook in here and there, so the toe is a little crazy looking and made my stitched way too tight.  But they look more even when there are feet in them Grin  Enjoy!

As you can see, this bell is just kinda stuck on there.  Badly.  I need to fix it.

Just a side view... it doesn't look quite as oddly misshapen in real life...

My sister isn't around to try them on and pose for some action shots and they're way too small to fit on my feet.
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sweet Cuppin' Cakes Scarf *pictures* on: March 08, 2009 07:47:27 AM
Long time stalker, first time poster...  anyway, I finished this scarf waaaaayyyyy back on New Years and uploaded the pics to the site but never got around to actually putting them up before student teaching took over my life...

Anyway, my sister is obsessed with cupcakes.  So when I found this http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=2252 I knew that I had to make it for her.  I was so sneaky that she even volunteered to help me finish it (aka put the pompoms on)!!

So anyway, I made it with some really crappy acrylic yarn from Wally World.  My sister decided that each cupcake had to have only one color "sprinkles" or tiny pompoms and each cupcake has a "cherry" on top.  The pompoms are also from Wally World, just regular multi size craft pompoms, and I used fabric glue, Aleene's Ok to wash it glue, cause that's what Mom had in her craft bucket!

The scarf is about 6 1/2 feet long, with 22 cupcakes total (11 for each side).  And because I can't crochet the cupcakes the same way each time, the average cupcake is about 3 1/2 inches tall.

I decided about 10 cupcakes in that I didn't want to have to worry about joining two halves, so I kind of made up when I got to the top of the frosting part (row 13 in the pattern) instead of joining with the white to make another cupcake I would just start working the pattern backwards to make the frosting of another cupcake.  I worked out pretty well, I think.
