1  Re: Put a Bird On It! Swap - Send out Friday July 27th in The Swap Gallery by SunflowerSmiles on: August 01, 2012 06:22:36 PM
I'm going to go ahead and post pictures for my partner as she said she had problems with her camera.
I took a chance in making these as I'm not sure my partner would like it but I found the idea in a magazine with these little birdies on a quilt. I thought I would try to make a few try framing them.

She said she would like a mug rug so I made her two. I've never made mug rugs. These are really fun to do!

And lastly, my first embroidery project. She wanted something with one of the Hawaiian birds on it. The embroidered bird is a Hawaiian Red-Crested Cardinal. Learned a lot on this little project...after the fourth try. LOL! try something bigger next time!

And the necklace. There's a little sparrow in the frame. I used the new mod podge dimensional magic on it. That stuff is cool!
This was a fun swap to craft for!

I received from Gr33nT3a today and HOLY MOSES!!  This girl has some mad artistic skill and made me some incredible goodies that I will forever treasure! Wanna see? This will be a ton of pictures so I'll be putting a few in Thumbnails as to not overwhelm some with uploading.
First the box..for reals. (click on the picture to make it bigger)

This was on the top...sooo cool.  Check the whole box out!

the box was covered in birds!
Yeah..I was totally excited to rip into the box but I didn't want to ruin my peacock!! I was gentle...sort of.  Grin  NEXT!  Everything wrapped up...

I sooo ripped into that...well kind of..she had it wrapped up tight! It was coming across the big blue. Everything was protected well.  Now some bigger pictures!!!
Check this out...

a Blue Jay and can I say...AWESOME! this girl can seriously draw! I can barely do stick figures. I very much appreciate those who can make something come to life on paper. Speaking of coming to life...

A Spotted "Rufous-sided" Towhee. One of my favorites painted on a pillow. Looks like it can fly right off of there! I adore this and I am in AWE..........and it's mine.  Grin  NEXT!
This is by far...so cool. I collect little bird figurines and check this out...
And Egg Diorama. I cannot tell you how cool this is and I will treasure it always. I suck at pictures so I hope you can see how awesome this is...

and the back side..

That's a REAL egg folks, that's a little robin in there!...I can't imagine the time and patience it must have taken to do this. It's in a place where I can see it all the time. Smiley
And last but certainly not least are some feather earrings...very pretty

and some little extras...Hawaiian candy!

I am soooo happy!  These are things I will treasure always...thank you thank you thank you Gr33nt3a.   Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

Sorry Sharalee your not feeling well.. Undecided  Bummer when it's hot.  I hope you don't mind if I post pictures? I'm just really proud of what I did and would like to share it with my poppety friends.  Grin
Here's little Miss Fairy Princess Poppet...

I made wings for her and gave her fingers and toes. She doesn't have a tail since I can't turn them for the life of me. I gave her pointy ears as well. Her hair is in a little ponytail on the top of her head..looks a little odd in the picture but the shiny crystals thingy's are wrapped around it.
I sent a few friends along with...A mini poppet. She's under half the size as the regular poppet.

and a Cupcake doll!

(sorry those pictures look so washed out...not sure what happened there.. Undecided)

5  Re: Sock Monkey/ Sock Critter Swap Round 5 - Gallery in The Swap Gallery by SunflowerSmiles on: June 26, 2012 01:30:26 PM
I received too! My little Bedtime Sock Monkey arrived to his new home today... MINE!..feel bad for him because he had to sleep in the mailbox last night..poor thing.  I love the sweet surprise when someone you swap with is able to nail you to a T...waterbaby did that for sure Grin

he has sweet little slippers! He's so soft and cuddly.

He has his own pillow and binky and his little duck to sleep with. Since he's a monkey after my own heart he brought some pretty cool reading material to join me in my late night reading. An epic Star Wars Han Solo and Chewbacca adventure...not that clone wars stuff..the good stuff, the originals. Is there any other?  Wrapped around my morning coffee is the most awesome Batman cozy. Yes. It is mine. It will never be relinquished to anyone.."hear that son"?
Here we are all together

Waterbaby...thank you so very much! He's most wonderful..I can't stop grinning!  Grin Grin Grin

6  Perler Biggie Beads "Candy" bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by SunflowerSmiles on: June 11, 2012 02:19:19 PM
So I was cruising Pinterest the other day and found a great little tutorial to melt perler beads and make a little bracelet.(http://craftandcreativity.com/blog/2012/05/25/meltedbeads/ I want to give credit where credit is due.. Smiley)
I wanted to share with my Craftster friends what I did to make these using the perler Biggie Beads.

I used the larger Biggie Beads, instead of the little ones in the tutorial on the nets, which are easier for my hands to get a hold of. Heat your oven to 250 degree F. for these larger beads. The smaller ones you heat to 200F. Line a pan with aluminum foil or parchment..line your perler beads like this

and place them in the oven and keep an eye out..mine took about 15 minutes to look like this.

There was no odor but put a fan on just in case. Pull them out...let them cool. When mine were hot I smushed them a bit with a magazine but you don't have to do that. I strung mine with the Stretch Magic cord and easy peasy, a little "candy" bracelet.

This would be a great project for girls (or boys!) with supervision with the oven, of course. Easy little beads to make, inexpensive and they or you! can string to their/your hearts content.

9  Re: The Ongoing Poppet and Punkin-Along in Craftalongs by SunflowerSmiles on: May 16, 2012 05:40:10 PM
okay doke...here's what I have so far....

I put her eyes a little closer together..I think for this type of doll..farther apart would be better..like your pattern.. One thing..now that she's stuffed...is maybe sewing a seam across the top of her legs so she can sit if she wants...another thing..not sure what to do with the feet.. thought of painting little maryjanes on her but not sure about the heel..what do you think?

I used a little Popsicle stick in the neck..seems to work well and I think the idea of sewing all around the head and making a neck hole after would work well....I liked cutting the hole in after and stuffing it in.

I'm wanting to try make her hair look like the anime type hair..
edit:finished the hair..what do ya think?
