1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Mine or Your(s) ... Favorite Tool of the Trade (Hand Embroidery)!!!??? on: December 11, 2008 12:06:59 AM
So there always is something specific that we fall in love with from our embroidery/stitchery supplies/tools.

Well I love my night light (book light). Got it a while ago for about $5.00 from Michael's with a coupon and founded @ the needlework supplies area and in front of the OTT lamps hanging at the lower level of the peg board (or whatever that is called  Wink Roll Eyes)

I think the pictures don't do justice... to me it lights more than what it shows.
I also use this lamp for crocheting at night and of course for reading  Wink .
Going thru lots of insomnia episodes do to FM... Undecided (like at this very moment).

What are your fav's tools Huh!!!

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / What does this means: multiple of 3 plus 1... (ex. 21 + 1 = 22 ?) ? on: December 06, 2008 08:11:13 AM
I was just wondering... when a pattern says:
Multiple of 3 plus 1... Does this means that you chain or crochet your stitches until they
are 3,6,,9,12,15,18,21,etc... and then I add 1 more stitch to that ? So 21 + 1 = 22 ?

So the amount of stitches be it chains, sc, hdc, dc, etc... should be a number that could be divided by 3... right ?  And then I will add only one more stitch to that ... right.. wrong ?

I'm a little confuse here  Undecided !

I will really appreciate all the help  Smiley !
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Please...Help me find Book with specifics stitch counts ???? on: December 05, 2008 12:50:52 PM
Hi y'all !  Wink

I'm trying to improve my crocheting skills and I'm currently looking
for a book that will give me specific stitch counts...
What I'm referring to is like when you are going to make some kind of decorative pattern or edging the book will tell you how many stitches you need in order for the stitch pattern to look nice, even and complete... Do I make sense ? I don't know how to explaining .
I crochet a baby hat and did a shell edging all around but the last shell didn't fit well because I didn't have the right number of stitches so I just wing it , but it didn't really look well.
Any help will be greatly appreciated !!!!  Smiley

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Drawstring Pencil/Supplies Bag from a Leg ;-) !!! on: December 04, 2008 05:25:58 PM
Hi everyone !
I normally hang out at the Needlework area, sometimes in the Crochet area but now made this little drawstring bag and wanted to share...

Made from one leg of a pair of jeans size 18 months.
I have a terrible (emotional) time getting rid of my dd's outgrown cloths so I want to preserve some by reusing/recycle/repurpose.

Here it is...

My source:

The casing for the drawstring its already made ... the seam of the leg. Just remove a few stitches and thread your string thru it  Wink .

What do you think !!!?Huh

Hi y'all  Wink !

I've being lurking around this area here for a while... you would normally find me on the
Needlework area (hand embroidery).
But the crochet bug its bitting very hard lately, so I guess you will see me a little more often around here  Smiley.

I'm kind of a newbie and wanted to share what I have crocheted so far,

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Mini hand embroidered pot holder (link to pot holder pattern) on: November 04, 2008 05:26:00 PM
This is a very easy and quick project. The embroidery part is what take most of the time but since it will only fit a small pattern/design it doesn't take that long... enough of rambling  Wink.

I'm really happy how this turned out ! Stitched with only one strand of floss.
What do you think ?

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery Supplies Attraction/Addiction Rehab ! on: November 03, 2008 09:39:41 PM
I just need to know if it is only me (hopefully not), but I can't seem to be happy with not buying embroidery supplies for more than 2 weeks (more or less).
Even if it is only a pack of needles or one skein of floss... but it gives such a good feeling getting embroidery supplies... be it thrifted, store bought or as a gift (which has not happen yet  Cry ... )
Anyways... are there any other stitchers joining this Rehab !
To be honest... I don't think I want to leave this fascination ... Tongue !

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidery Needles... blunt ? on: November 03, 2008 09:32:58 PM
I've being embroidering for a while now and I don't really know how to tell if the
needle is has gotten blunt ?
I have quite a few embroidery needles... I guess I don't use the same one enough to tell.
