71  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: My first plushies on: April 07, 2008 07:00:24 PM
Thanks for the great comments everyone.  Smiley
No, they're not my patterns, but I think I will redesign them to have a chest gusset. I think the front legs are a bit dorky so close together!
I added the brown patches to the dog pattern, and in hindsight I would have made the mask more central (I didn't allow for the head gusset!).
But its all a learning experience.
I stuffed the horse and fox with carded wool, but used synthetic fill for the dog, and I think I prefer how that feels. The wool can be a bit lumpy if you stuff them firmly.
Any thoughts on this?

72  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: Needle felt cat cake topper on: April 07, 2008 05:47:32 PM
Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I'm pretty happy with them myself.  Grin
They are jetting their way over from Australia to Houston TX and I'm hoping the bride and groom like them too!
I'm waiting for the news that they have arrived safely (always my worst nightmare that my feltpets don't arrive at their destinations!).
I will post a pic of the wedding cake, if they remember to send one to me.  Smiley

This order was for a wedding cake topper. I had a lot of fun making these two, and I made sure we communicated to make sure I got the right colour green to match the wedding.
The veil and bow tie are just held in place with pins, so that after the wedding the cats won't look funny without their accessories.
I've asked for a pic of them on the cake.

I made this dog (modeled on my pooch) for my soon to be born nephew.
I also made the rainbow horse and a fox (which is a bit weird looking). The beautiful handmade and dyed felt is from Winterwood (http://www.winterwoodtoys.com.au/shop/scdcategories.asp?CatID=4).

Any tips on transferring a design onto lino would be greatly appreciated!
Its been years since I last tried lino printing, so I am very rusty!!
Thanks!  Smiley

I agree, you should keep needle felting and experimenting. Wish I had discovered it at your age! They're fantastic. Keep at it.  Smiley
