21  More Needle Felted Bears - Image heavy in Felting: Completed Projects by feltpets on: May 11, 2008 06:24:28 AM
I've made a couple more bears, I've made them for a needle felting workshop I'm helping out with in a couple of weeks:

22  My first needle felted bear in Felting: Completed Projects by feltpets on: April 09, 2008 06:37:32 PM
I'm used to making dogs and cats, but this is my first teddy bear. It only took me 3 hours (my dogs take anywhere from 4-8 hours!) to create including the little birdy.
Its about 3.5 inches/90mm tall. It was fun to make something without real reference.  Smiley

Thanks for the great comments everyone.  Smiley
No, they're not my patterns, but I think I will redesign them to have a chest gusset. I think the front legs are a bit dorky so close together!
I added the brown patches to the dog pattern, and in hindsight I would have made the mask more central (I didn't allow for the head gusset!).
But its all a learning experience.
I stuffed the horse and fox with carded wool, but used synthetic fill for the dog, and I think I prefer how that feels. The wool can be a bit lumpy if you stuff them firmly.
Any thoughts on this?

24  Needle felt cat cake topper in Felting: Completed Projects by feltpets on: April 07, 2008 03:46:01 AM
This order was for a wedding cake topper. I had a lot of fun making these two, and I made sure we communicated to make sure I got the right colour green to match the wedding.
The veil and bow tie are just held in place with pins, so that after the wedding the cats won't look funny without their accessories.
I've asked for a pic of them on the cake.

I made this dog (modeled on my pooch) for my soon to be born nephew.
I also made the rainbow horse and a fox (which is a bit weird looking). The beautiful handmade and dyed felt is from Winterwood (http://www.winterwoodtoys.com.au/shop/scdcategories.asp?CatID=4).
