I am expecting my first child in September, and we don't move into our new home until August, so I haven't been able to nest in the truest sense.
So to occupy my idle hands, I decided to make a mobile for the baby.
We do not know what sex it is yet, so I'm just going for colourful decorations in a neutral room (when we get a chance to paint it!).
So I looked for inspiration on the 'net and came up with origami cranes made out of fabric (which I stiffened).
I also had a lot of fun at the patchwork store rummaging through the fat quarters looking for the best colours and patterns.

Its only palm sized. I think I used either 4mm or 5mm eyes.

I hope you have the opportunity to start on your first project real soon. Careful, needle felting can be addictive!

I have only made one other similar bear called "Honey Bear".

I use dog brushes to card my wool too. And yes I do get some knots, but its a matter of practice. Here is a pic of my brush when I was blending poodle fur with wool (I have two of these brushes).

I recently had a friend ask me to repair a sculpture I made of his dog - it lost an ear. I made the staffy almost 2 years ago, and my technique has evolved a lot since then. So I decided to repair the sculpture and make a new one.
So here is the result:
