Details of swap

PostSecret is a website located at http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com
The idea behind it is to create a postcard, using images, illustrations, paintings, etc., and write or type a secret on it that you want to anonymously share with the world.

The Craftster twist is that your cards need to be creative in addition to being sent to members of our little group. Remember there is no way to guarantee this is 100% anonymous because some people may be able to trace a card back (if they are super super sleuths!), if youd like to protect yourself as much as possible I recommend removing your location from your Craftster profile and temporarily removing your links as well (etsy, Facebook, blogs, etc.). Of course you dont have to do this!

You will be sending 10 cards.

The Anatomy of a Postcard

Your postcard should include at least one image and your secret, which should be written/typed out on the front of the card. Make your cards however you like-- photographs, collage, drawing, painting--or buy postcards and embellish them with your secrets.

You can write a note to the recipient on the back of the card, but that's optional.

Your postcards can all be based around the same secret, or all different. If you use the same secret for multiple cards, the visual part of the card must be different and you must phrase your secret differently. Ideally, you should really use 10 different secrets.

Questionable Content?

Some secrets are not G-rated. I don't want to restrict anyone's freedom of expression, but please realize some people may not want to be exposed to content they may find offensive.

There are many members under 18 on Craftster, and I wouldn't want anyone getting inappropriate content (sexual, violent, etc.) their parents would not approve of.

In the swap questionnaire, I have given you the opportunity to state what themes and images you would prefer not to receive. Please use this space to specify what you do NOT want to receive, the information will be given to those sending to you so they will know what not to send you.

SENDING ANY KIND OF PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. This is a rule set for all swaps on Craftster. Basically, if you would need ID to buy it, don't put it on your postcard.

Privacy

This swap is anonymous; you won't know which postcard is coming from which Craftster member. However, the system isn't perfect. In this swap you will receive a code (like G6, for example and it may be different once your code is assigned) and you will put that assigned code on the bottom left-hand corner of the backside of your postcard (where you would put the address). Please put this on the back of your card, even if it's in an envelope.

If it would ruin your life (or someone else's life) if a fellow Craftster did some Internet detective work and figured out which secret was yours, you probably shouldn't be putting it on a postcard for the world to see. This isn't the place to admit you committed a felony or anything.

And if you are one of those people who can't possibly live without doing the detective work, please keep that information to yourself and don't ruin a fun swap for the rest of us.

If you're really worried about someone matching up the postmark on the card with your name, you could send your postcards from a town near yours, from your work, etc.

Or if you feel like being super-sneaky, you can have your cards postmarked at the North Pole:
North Pole Postmarks

Shipping

There are no DC numbers for this swap, since they cannot be put on a postcard. When you send your cards, you MUST get a receipt from the post office and you MUST e-mail a scan or photo of the receipt to the organizer. Therefore, if you don't have access to a scanner or digital camera, you cannot join this swap.

You must be willing to ship internationally.

You may mail your cards in envelopes if you want them to be a little more protected.

Absolutely do not forget your code!

Receiving

Half of the fun of this swap is looking over the gallery daily to see all the secrets that have been sent. Please make sure that you have access to a scanner or camera so that you can share the postcards with the rest of us. Pictures absolutely must be posted in a timely manner!! We need to be able to see postcards that have been received.

As soon as you do receive you need to PM me and tell me the code on the back of the card so I can mark appropriate members accordingly.

Feedback

Positive feedback will be assigned when you have
  • PMd proof of sending your cards
  • Have PMd the codes from ALL the cards you have received
  • Photos of ALL cards you received have been posted in the gallery

NOTE:While I can not withhold a "positive feedback" for failure to post photos, it will be noted in comments that you did not follow the swap guidelines.

Sending Late

If something happens that prevents you from sending your cards on time, that's OK--life happens! Just PM me before the deadline, and e-mail your receipt when you send. If you don't ship by the deadline and I haven't heard from you, I will be forced to assume you're not sending and will have to leave negative feedback until you've sent (and can prove it).

Flaking

Of course we don't want flakers! We can (and will!) be keeping track of all secrets sent by the codes you will be putting on them. If you forget a code, we cannot just accept your word for it. You absolutely must remember to put your code on it or have a picture of your secret before you sent so we can match to the rec'd secret.

Please take pictures of your secrets so that if someone flakes, they can still be posted (anonymously).

Pictures

When posting your received secrets in photos, you must photograph each one individually - so that means no "group shots." A group shot has 2 or more cards in the photo. Because trying to fit 2+ cards into the picture is hard, it makes it near impossible to get a good representation of the cards. Remember, this is first and foremost a craft forum and a craft based swap. Your cards should be 100% crafty with effort noticeable and the pictures should show the hard work the secret-sender put into it (as well as their secret) since they are not able to post their pictures themselves. Also, PLEASE cover the code of the person who sent the card when taking photos to post.

Comments in the Gallery

Comments will be allowed.
However, when posting the pictures of the secrets you receive you have to hold your comments for a separate post. So that means: No comments in any posts with pictures. This is to make it easier for members not wishing to read any comments to search with the "View Images Only" option. Yes, you can post your pictures and immediately post again with your comments to your own post.

*Note: You will not receive Negative feedback for not following the above rules, however it will be reflected in the comments of your feedback that you did not follow the directions of the swap when asked.

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Fixing up some negatives .. on: January 26, 2011 03:16:44 PM
First off, let me say this: I MISSED YOU GUYS!! I am so glad to be back to swapping here with y'all!

So, I caught the stupid swine flu at the end of '09 and piled on top of other medical issues, I became very sick. I wasn't able to complete two swaps I was in at the time. Of course, I received well deserved negatives for those two swaps. I have come back to craftster this month and reversed my two negatives by participating in the FOC wishlist swap. I have also sent an angel package out for someone too. But here's my problem, I still feel that twinge of crappiness for not having sent the original packages. Now, I know that was an option for me to go ahead and send those original packages to reverse my feedback, but honestly, I was quite embarrassed about having to say "hey there, I flaked on you, but now I wanna come back and swap some more" over a year later. Well, now I am wondering this: Would it be good to go ahead and make it up to those craftsters that I never sent to? It would be for nothing more than me making it up to them at this point, but that is the right thing to do, right?!
6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 38 ENTRIES / An Eggcellent Easter Bunny on: May 01, 2009 03:47:08 PM
So, of course when I heard the challenge this month I knew I would HAVE to join in! I couldn't decide what I would make though. So, my 10 year old daughter thought this up, and I ran with it (with her help of course).

This is what we started with:

Then we began stacking and gluing:

And this is what we ended up with! An Eggsellent Easter Bunny!

And his rear (see his white tail?):

Side view:

Joined in the grass by his friends Mr.Sheep, and the Chicks! (and eggs layed out for a hunt!) Wink

We glued each half of egg together using mod podge, and secured with hot glue. His face is one of the really big plastic eggs with sharpie details! Wink Everything except the grass (construction paper) was an Easter egg that was hunted down by my kiddos!  And no, we didn't even use half of them to make this! Smiley

Thanks for looking!
7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Crochet Sackboy! on: April 20, 2009 11:23:21 AM
I made a sackboy! I tried a few different free patterns but didn't really like how they were coming out, so after 2 half done sackboys being frogged, I decided to just make it up as I went! Here he is!

He got bored and lonely, he decided he'd make his own friend! Wink

8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Midnight Easter Dresses! on: April 15, 2009 12:53:54 PM
So after buying dresses, for my 2 youngest girls, that I really wasn't happy with, I decided at 11pm Saturday night, that I should just go ahead and make them some. It only took 2 hours from cut to finish to make 2 dresses and they came out PERFECT! I made simple pillowcase type dresses (just without the pillowcase LOL). I was so friggin' proud of myself! Anyways ... here they are!

I am still totally in love with them! Thanks for looking!

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Roaming Gnome Round 2 Gallery on: April 03, 2009 07:47:47 PM
OK ladies ... heres a spot to fill up with funny gnomey type pics!

Rules: post any pics you'd like to of the roaming gnomes, BUT make sure that the pics you post here are not the only ones you send to that gnome's mommy! So if you post 2 pics of a gnome you can send those 2 pics along with the gnome but you have to include atleast 2 others also! Make sense??

Enjoy!
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / What's fuzzy and blue and has crooked teeth? on: March 27, 2009 07:29:54 PM
Why, my monster of course! I just made him today and it's the first time I have made something without a pattern! He's little weird and funny looking, but thats ok, he is a monster afterall!
Wink
He's blue with cream antennae (or so my son says that's what they are) LOL
He's Fuzzy too! He is a little self-concious about his teeth, they haven't quite become scary yet! Wink

And his tail! lol

I hope he's not as bad as I think he is! LOL
Thanks for looking!
