21  Lil' Black & Purple Hippie Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dmbgirl41 on: July 04, 2008 07:48:27 AM
I made this for my friend Deena's birthday coming up this week. I made up the pattern myself. Its not perfect, but either are my sewing skills. I think I learned some from this project. As far as which order to sew. I used 1 fat quarter & a couple pieces from 2 other fat quarters. Not much fabric, well its not a big bag. I intended for her to use it as a small bag for going out or for a small lunch bag. Anyway, I hope you like it & any feedback is appreciated! Thanks! Smiley

I finished it! For quite some time on & off I've been working on this blanket, that I gave to my boyfriend for his birthday. He's taken to wearing it like a cape, but so did I when I wasn't working on it. Its just comfy like that!

And I love love love all the little designs she put on  each card. Not to mention I have to get my butt in the kitchen now with so many fabulous recipes to conjure up!

A Fab Market Bag (I adore the saying!!! And the little characters are so freakin' cute. So me.)

The "back" I dig the lil' tofu dude

The inside. Yay! For recycling!! And easily washable material!!! I can't wait to sport this at the grocery store!

Fun fabric that stuff was wrapped in & a sweet little note.

24  Re: The Great Vegan/Vegetarian Swap (sign ups closed!!! send out 5/30/2008) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by dmbgirl41 on: June 02, 2008 08:18:03 AM
I think, we are cat people! hahaha. This is Abbi. She's going to be 4 on August 10th. I only know her birthday b/c she picked it. When I brought her home she was so tiny we let her prance about on the calendar. And when she got tired she sat right down on August 10 & her little butt fit right in the square. When I rescued her she was only 3 weeks old. Or so I was told. A friend of my ex's was being evicted and his cat just had kittens, which were unexpected. I think there were 8. And they ate pizza outside his house (& milk from their momma) he didn't know where the kittens would go- so I took the runt of the litter, figuring she would have the hardest time trying to survive on her own. I brought her to my mom. At the time I didn't live with her (like I do now  Roll Eyes and she was in desperate need of some company (so I thought) And anyway, I don't know what happened to the other kittens, I called all the shelters I knew of & none could take cats at the time Sad (this is before Pets Alive was around) I asked my boss who is a big business man around the area- if he knew anyone... he told me to do the most horrifying thing to the kittens. I'm not even going to repeat it, its that horrid. But apparently, its what they did on the farm where he grew up. (he's like 70+) people are so evil. Anyway, I saved at least 1 kitty. And she's so entertaining, not cuddly tho  Undecided And we love her!!!

26  Hideous 70s wicker bag to FAB Mod Summer Tote! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dmbgirl41 on: May 18, 2008 06:12:07 PM
So I loved this wicker bag & it was ugly. Had a dirty linen lining & was put together rather cheaply. My Mom loved it to- so for her birthday I gave it an ultimate makeover. Let me know what you think  Roll Eyes

27  Re: Cat Walking Jacket in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by dmbgirl41 on: May 13, 2008 12:41:34 PM
I love this! now- if you could simply tell me how you got your cat IN this- I would be convinced to try & make my cat one! She looks obedient here, but she would not tolerate that cute little walking leash! Sad Also, we rescued our cat & we don't know what kind she is- do you think she's a Bengal type like yours? idk if you are cat smart like that. I can't tell!
Oh I love your idea & I so want to take my cat for a stroll. Also- I think the fabric you chose is awesome!!!

29  Dave Matthews Band/Firedancer iPod Nano Case in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dmbgirl41 on: April 06, 2008 05:43:31 PM
Grin This was difficult for me, since I'm not that skilled of a sewer yet! But... after I made my boyfriend a mario mushroom iPod Shuffle case... my best friend said she wanted one for her Nano... since I know she doesn't LOVE nintendo... I thought she might like this one better. Dave Matthews Band is our favorite music & we're getting all psyched for summer tour. I modeled it after the leather coach case that I have for my iPod nano. (both the ipod & case were hand me downs...) is it bad that I think I'd rather have a felt DMB one than the coach one? hahaha... back to the sewing machine. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks Smiley <3 Nicole

30  Phish Butt! 24mo. Onesy Project (lots of pics) in Needlework: Completed Projects by dmbgirl41 on: March 31, 2008 07:34:22 PM
I finally finished it. I made this for my friend's son's baptism on Sunday, which I just didn't finish in time. I realize its rather different for a baptism gift... as much as I can respect the tradition & loving decision to have their son baptized, I simply couldn't bring myself to buy a baby bible, or whatever (though that is a very nice gift) so being the "artsy" friend, I thought I would make him an adorable outfit, that I knew his mommy would love! Especially since she is going to "The Jammies" lol to see Phish back together, in May. (PS- I also made him a blankey, which I felt was more traditional, as my sister got one for hers Wink ... without further ado (is that how you spell it?)...

step 1... draw the design... I did this for the front too- but didn't take a pic.

The design up front

and as a whole...

A close up of the front. Craftster simply would not allow me to upload the pic of the whole thing, for some reason. FYI- for you non-Phish fans, Trey is the lead singer Wink
Thanks all for looking. I haven't given it to her yet & this is one of my first completed embroidery projects, so I'd love your feedback Cheesy
