1  Re: Disposable Camera swap! in The Swap Gallery by dmbgirl41 on: August 03, 2009 02:47:20 PM
My apologies as I have been moving, and I'm still moving & I was packing up some stuff & I realized I never got to post what my partner sent me!!!! I love this picture & frame SO much. When my room was actually in order... I put it in my prosperity corner (feng shui) & I think it really worked some magic, so its double awesome! My partner had pc malfunctions right before she sent her pkg so she never got to save them to a CD. I have been hunting around for someone with a scanner, haven't been able to find someone. And she is in Hong Kong for a while!! SO... I thought the best that I could do before I complete my move & forget to share her wonderful work, was post the picture of the frame. I hope I eventually get to share her photography because she took some great photos, some were really funny too!

enjoy! And thanks again eyeseefaeries!

2  Twilight Book look-a-like Jewelry Box in Completed Projects by dmbgirl41 on: July 10, 2009 06:24:08 AM
I made this for a special girl, who is turning 16! She is a big twilight fan (as am I) The whole thing was relatively easy to do, minus the hands on the cover. I almost gave up. I'm quite pleased with the finished project. However, the "dries clear" glue I used to put the felt in the inside, did not dry clear. I'm thankful I was neat about it. Its too late to redo- her party is tomorrow. Overall though, I'm proud of my work! Hope you like it! C&C are always welcome!

3  Laptop Bag- Messenger Bag Style - IDEAS?! HELP? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dmbgirl41 on: April 23, 2009 07:28:40 AM

I made this bag for my friend for her birthday. It is for her laptop. Its padded with 1/2" foam. I put pockets in front under the flap to hold the mouse & the power cord.

I'm really proud of this bag because I thought of the design & made it without any pattern or anything. I really worked hard on it & tried to make it perfect. And it come out awesome, as far as looks go.

That being said, I'm completely bummed out because I never got to actually see the laptop & used her measurements & I would have liked to model it around her actual laptop. But anyway, it seems to be very tight. I guess the height is ok, but the length is not. Its too short. I told her to try & wear it in a little, so maybe it would stretch. My other thought was to rip it all apart *big sigh* & try & sew the sides together again, a little closer to the edge? ugh.
Anyone have any stress saving wonder ideas?!?! Sad Thanks Smiley

4  Dave Matthews Band Swap?? in New Swap Theme Ideas by dmbgirl41 on: April 08, 2009 09:51:27 AM
Grin Ok, maybe I'm a little obsessed. alright I'm a lot obsessed with the Dave Matthews Band. The first show of the year (for me) is next Tuesday & I'm really excited about tour.

My last swap partner made me some really cool DMB things!!! And every year before tour I make my best friend something DMB related to kick off the tour. What inspires you better than your favorite music!?!

With all the sold out shows- and all the creative things I see at shows- there has GOT to be other crafty dmb-obsessed persons out there!!!

This would be my first swap as organizer... I'm a little nervous about that. Undecided But I'm sure I can handle it.

And I would say we'd do something simple like 2 mediums & a small... or like 2 mediums & a mix cd of dmb songs...

Enthusiasm & Suggestions will be much appreciated!!!

Some of my DMB inspired art for your thoughts...

made for a fellow fan

made for my BFF to kick off '08 tour

Rice Pillow for my BFF to kick of '09 tour (hey we are getting older...dancing all night can really make you ache!)

iPod nano cover
There's more...oh there's more... but just some ideas.

5  Re: Buy Nothing/ Green Swap Gallery (send outs 3/18/09) in The Swap Gallery by dmbgirl41 on: March 20, 2009 07:28:38 AM
Grin Grin Grin I received from efirechild yesterday, and when I got home early this morning in my grumpy not a morning person way- I was delightfully surprised!!!! Here's the awesome stuff she sent me!

For those of you who don't recognize this... its a Dave Matthews Band firedancer!!! I love this & really appreciate the skill it took to make this. The firedancer is complicated to craft, I know! I love it love it love it! And even my mom, was like, WHOAH that's really cool. Just in time to get excited for Spring/Summer Tour!!!!  Grin Grin Grin

This adorable lil' bag is made from fused plastic & plarn! I love it! I also appreciate her patience in making plarn, as it is a time consuming task. I love bags & this an awesome addition to my collection  Wink

This is a dish scrubbie made from tulle! How groovy is that? How did she know I'm the official dishwasher of my house?? Smiley And now... I know what to do with that tulle I've been putting off buying... strangely attracted to that stuff....

These are my second fav I think. I love stickers. Ever since the 80s & my stickerbook phenomenon. Its hard to see from the picture, so I'll tell you what they say, Left to Right, Up & Down. 1. DMB (this is from a tour shirt I think, I'm not sure which tho) 2. "The Notorious Bad Girls of Craft" 3. Starbucks Coffee w/ a Firedancer- recognize that? Its 2 of my favorite obsessions. 4. "I'm a hooker" w/ a little crochet hook  Wink 5. The DMB Stand Up! Cover Art. 6. "Ladies Sewing Circle & Terrorist Society" (its like she knows me!) 7. A pinup girl w/ crocheting supplies! 8. "It takes balls to crochet like this" lmao. 9. Dave Matthews Band w/ Dave & Boyd in the background. 10. "I crochet in public" (and I do)
Thanks so much efirechild! You were a great swap partner.

6  Re: Loop D' Loops {Pic Obese} in Crochet: Completed Projects by dmbgirl41 on: March 04, 2009 12:35:31 PM

I read this & that very night, I HAD TO make one for myself! I used some yarn I got from freecycle so I have no idea what kind it is, its somewhat thick & really really comfy & soft. I love it & I wore it at work, all day long! I just read other people's ideas of adding beads. There are some beads I have that I've been wondering what to do with, this would be perfect! I like the fact that these are kinda light (well mine was) compared to my other winter scarfs, so I can continue to rock these into the spring! Sweet. Thanks so much for sharing this idea! Grin

7  Granny Rectangle Afghan :) in Crochet: Completed Projects by dmbgirl41 on: February 20, 2009 04:26:32 PM

I started making granny squares awhile ago. I wanted to make a bag, and I did, and it was super huge, and I wanted to line it, and that didn't go so well, so I got over the bag, ripped it apart & started to make it an afghan. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The colors are a little off in the picture. The blue is really more turquoise, and the green is more olivey. Comments & Constructive Criticisms are always welcome.

My kitty aka: the quality control inspector, is a good reference for size Wink

9  Fabric Stash Wreath in Winter Holidays by dmbgirl41 on: December 11, 2008 04:59:05 PM
I can't take credit for the originality of this wreath, I did see it in a craft email I get. I want to say it was Better Homes & Gardens?

But anyway, it was super easy. bought wreath, cut 3"x1" stripes of holiday colored fabric, tied to branches, added 3 pieces of holly & viola! I'm giving it to my boyfriend's parents for Christmas! Let me know what you think!
