31  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / 3 Tier dress/shirt for my daughter on: July 31, 2008 07:57:24 PM
Before I say anything. I want to thank funda62  Smiley. Thank you, Thank you.She helped me with this and when I saw her twirly top. I decided to try it my self. I used McCall's pattern 5085. This was only the second pattern I have ever done. So it was a huge thing for me. I had to change a few things because the pattern I have was for a size 4 and my daughter is a size 2t. It is still a little big and I had some trouble with the top of it. But here it is. Please let me know what you think.

The first on is a halter dress that I made from a woman's maternity shirt. I bought it at Walmart on clearance. The second dress was my first pillow case dress. Also my first time making an applique. I used this tute: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=226296.0

This is my first sewing project. I made it last year for my daughters first birthday. It was a little big on her. Still cute though. I used a McCall's pattern.

OK, So I made a special trip to Joannes for this smocked material that I just had to have. My niece saw it and loved it too. So after a second trip and $15 in gas later(this Joannes is about a hour drive from me) The plan was to make two matching dresses for my daughter and my niece. Well they both came out great. Then after the second time I put it on my daughter I noticed the smocking coming undone. I was so upset. Well after a few tears and some ranting I decided to reconstruct it. So I cut off the smocking, Cut some arm holes. Then I lined the arms and top with bias tape and put elastic in the arm holes. I also attempted to pleat the top. Finally a few hours later (I have 4 children to work around) I have a cute baby doll top. LOVE IT.

Please let me know what you think.

35  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Pre shirred dress coming unshirred on: May 23, 2008 07:01:15 PM
HELP! I made my daughter and my niece these matching dresses for my sons birthday party tomorrow and the shirring is coming undone. Does anyone know how to fix it. I'm sooo bummed. Cry It looked so cute on my daughter the first time I tried it on her. The fabric that I used was that premade stuff. Anyway I bought it at Jo-annes. I've never had this problem before. I have no idea what I could have done wrong.
36  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Head scarf on: March 26, 2008 07:42:27 PM
Hi everyone!

I want to make one of those bandanna type head scarfs to go with my daughters new dress. I'm just not sure if I should use Velcro or just tie it. She's almost two. As far as I can tell there just a triangle shaped piece of fabric with ties on either end. I just have a thing about waisting fabric and don't want to mess it up.

Any suggestions would be helpful.
37  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Elvis retro dress on: March 25, 2008 04:48:14 PM
This is the second dress I made from this pattern. I made it reversible. I was just curious what you all thought about it. My father is the Elvis fan. I thought he would enjoy it on his granddaughter  Cheesy. Thanks for looking.
